Claire Danes Finds A Home At Showtime Claire Danes has officially signed on in the lead role of Showtime pilot Homeland , the network announced Thursday. The Emmy winner will play a driven CIA officer in the pilot, loosely based on the Israeli television series " Prisoners of War ." The actress, who recently won an Emmy for HBO's Temple Grandin , centers on an American solder taken captive during an invasion in Iraq in 2003, but returns to the U.S. after years in hiding. Danes will play Carrie Anderson, a driven CIA officer fighting psychological demons and is convinced the intelligence that led to a soldier's recapture was a setup. Homeland comes from Howard Gordon (24), who serves as executive producer along with Alex Gansa (24, The X-Files), and is loosely based on the Israeli television series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff. The Howard Stern Show's final live broadcast on Sirius XM Radio under the shock jock's current contract is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17 , and the two sides continue to negotiate a possible extension, according to Stern's producer. " Howard is negotiating, but we've never gone this far before," Stern show producer Gary Dell'Abate said in an appearance on radio station WFAN's Boomer & Carton show on Friday, according to radio industry news site FMQB. "I've never gone down to the wire like this and everybody is nervous, including me." She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global.
