According to Variety Paramount Pictures has given an awards season release date of Nov. 23 for “ Allied ,” Brad Pitt ’s World War II romantic thriller. “Allied,” produced by GK Films, also stars Marion Cotillard and is directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film is shooting in London, with production also taking place in the Canary Islands. Pitt is portraying an intelligence officer in 1942 North Africa who encounters a French Resistance fighter, played by Cotillard, on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war. Zameckis is directing from a script by Steven Knight (“The Hundred-Foot Journey”). Graham King, who won an Oscar for “The Departed,” is producing with Zemeckis, and Steve Starkey. Denis O’Sullivan, Jack Rapke (“Flight”),” Jackie Levine, Patrick McCormick and Knight are serving as executive producers. Variety is reporting “ Creed ,” actress Tessa Thompson is eyeing a jump to the Marvel universe in  “ Thor: Ragnarok .” Chris Hemsworth is back as the Norse God in the superhero sequel, which co-stars his “Avengers” counterpart Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk). Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is also in talks to play an unknown role. Taika Waiti in on board to direct “Ragnarok” with Stephany Folsom recently polished the script. Kevin Feige will produce the film, which hits theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. Variety is reporting Scott Eastwood has joined the ensemble of “ Fast 8 ,” the next installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. Eastwood joins Charlize Theron , who will portray a new antagonist. The latest installment begins production this summer with a planned April 14, 2017, release. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez will reprise their roles, with F. Gary Gray taking over the directing reins. Neil Moritz and Diesel will produce. Though it didn't look likely when the film initially hit theaters, the momentum behind a sequel to 2014's Tom Cruise-starring sci-fi Edge Of Tomorrow (or Live Die Repeat: Edge Of Tomorrow as it was awkwardly named for its home entertainment release) has been growing, partly thanks to a big haul worldwide. Now the follow-up has hired writers, with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse aboard to work with director Doug Liman. And lest you think this won't somehow result in another pairing of Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie (who did work on the first movie's script), rest easy – he's in talks to come aboard as a producer and develop the screenplay alongside Shrapnel and Waterhouse. Quite what they'll come up with is anyone's guess at the moment, especially since the first film seemed to wrap up its story fairly neatly. But given the time-looping aspects, anything is possible. This could be a pre-sequel-semi-reboot-quel set in an alternate dimension where Emil
