DOFP Sentinel Designed Expalined

Over the last 24 hours, Empire has teamed up with the X-Men to unveil 25 amazing covers to our new March issue to mark the upcoming Days Of Future Past . Now, like Jean Grey sacrificing herself for the team, we come to the end of our journey, and can reveal the final cover - this one showing a future-model Sentinel - and gather together the complete set. The film's cast, along with director Bryan Singer and Marvel godfather Stan Lee , unveiled most of the covers personally, and those of you who have been following the #Empire25 and #XMen hashtags will have seen the whole lot make their debut online. As for the design of this future Sentinel , inside the magazine we have an interview with production designer John Myhre who explains their look. Here's a little of what he had to say. "They're biomechanical weapons. We had to come up with what would be the ultimate version that could actually, in principle, stop the X-Men. We started with this idea that they were alm

First Image Of Quicksilver From X-Men: Days Of Future past

The casts of the original X-Men trilogy and 2011’s X-Men: First Class team up for May’s highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past . “It’s not a reboot because there’s some of the same characters and same actors,” says Bryan Singer, who previously directed the 2000 original and 2003’s X2. “But it’s also not a conventional sequel—I call it an inbetweequel.” Wolverine ( Hugh Jackman ) is sent back to the 1970s by future Professor X ( Patrick Stewart ) and Magneto ( Ian McKellen ) to stop a cataclysmic event. There, he must help young Xavier ( James McAvoy ) reunite with his foster sister, Raven ( Jennifer Lawrence ), and best pal, Erik/Magneto ( Michael Fassbender ). As Singer teases, “These are very big emotional stakes as well as, you know, cool giant robots and superpowers.” Please Leave A Comment- Source- EW

Michael Fassbender To Star In Comedy "Frank"

For the vast majority of his career, Michael Fassbender has been known for serious drama, big action movies or films without much to really laugh about (unless you count some of the X-Men: First Class comedy moments or used giggling as a self defence mechanism while watching Jonah Hex ). But now he’s signed up for a comedy in the shape of Frank . Lenny Abrahamson is set to direct the film, which boasts a script by Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan (who, possibly not coincidentally, adapted Ronson’s book The Man Who Stare At Goats for the big screen). Frank follows the misadventures of an aspiring musician ( Domhnall Gleeson ), who gets in over his head when he joins an eccentric rock band led by the OTT Frank ( Fassbender ). It certainly sounds like it could be a blast, especially if Fassbender gets to go all Velvet Goldmine (though without pulling a Ewan McGregor, even if he does have form on screen). Fassbender, of course, most recently finished shooting Twelve Years A Slave

X-Men Sequel To Follow DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Story Line

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel will start production early next year and now AICN has heard that there will be a heavy dose of Magneto this time around and that the studio recently registered the title DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with the MPAA Title Registration Bureau. No confirmation yet if that’s going to be the official title of this sequel, but if you’re a die hard X-Men fan, you’d recognize that it’s the title for a two-issue story arc of the X-Men comics published by Marvel in 1981 and the story dealt with alternative timelines.   DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Back Story: Days of Future Past” is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria. The storyline

X-Men: First Class Sequel Has It's Director

That is changing, and the quality of the recent films released by the studio has improved. Fox has just closed a deal with Matthew Vaughn to come back and direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class , with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer back as producer. The studio is so delighted with the job that Josh Trank did on the upcoming under-$20 million thriller Chronicle that he is being eyed for a big assignment, possibly the reboot of Fantastic Four . The studio has made a priority of the sequel to last summer’s hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, with Rupert Wyatt back behind the camera. Fox, after ending the year with the Cameron Crowe directed We Bought a Zoo , has the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus ; and the studio got Timur Bekmambetov to direct Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter . That film was produced by Tim Burton, who will direct for the studio Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, with a script being written by X-Men: First Class scribe Jane G

Starship Troopers Reboot On The Way

Break out the bug spray! Sony Pictures Über-producer Neal Moritz has decided that the time has come to reboot Paul Verhoeven's 1997 fascist classic Starship Troopers . He has assigned the script to screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, who, among other things, wrote Thor and X-Men: First Class, as well as many episodes of the TV shows Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe . Of course, they also wrote Agent Cody Banks, which makes one think that Frankie Muniz could be the perfect former child star to take over the Neil Patrick Harris role. A new Starship Troopers follows remake plans for Verhoeven's Total Recall and RoboCop. How long until his Basic Instinct and Showgirls get updated? Come to think of it, we could totally see Frankie Muniz in both of those, too. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Vulture

Top Gun Sequel To Be Written By X-Men: First Class Scribes

It’s been a while since any news about a possible Top Gun sequel hit our news radar, but now it looks like there has finally been a solid development as X-Men: First Class contributors Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to work on a script for the film. And this is music to my ears. Last we heard, Tony Scott was definitely involved and has been driving the development in the direction of today’s airborne tech, with a focus on the pilots who fly drones and other vehicles via high-tech equipment. We doubt that’ll be the total focus (there’s not as much danger zone involved when the plane doesn’t have an actual pilot to get shot down), but now it’ll be Miller and Stentz’s job to find the drama. Top Gun 3D Flying Into Theaters In 2012 There’s no clear word on what that will actually be, but given that Christopher McQuarrie reportedly came up with some story ideas, they should at least have a firm basis from which to start. It now remains to be seen when (or even if)

Michael Fassbender As Robocop?

Michael Fassbender is truly the man of the moment, attacking ambitious pictures of all genres, from Shame to Prometheus, X-Men: First Class to The Dangerous Method . And he’s consistently good in these movies too, making smart choices and bringing more than his sheer charisma to the screen. So, really, it’s no surprise at all that Robocop reboot director José Padilha wants Fassbender to take a look at the lead role. He’d be mad not to. Appearing on Brazillian TV channel Globo 1 to discuss the selection of his film Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within as the country’s official nomination for Oscar consideration, Padhila also talked a little about his Robocop plans. A team of Little Bleeders tell us that Padilha said something like this: I’ll film Robocop. I’m indeed writing the script, the writer is here with me in Rio, we’ve spent over the last 15 days working together, refining the script. I’ll be travelling this friday back to LA, bringing this new version to discuss with t

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Blu-Ray Review By: Rama

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Blu-Ray Review By: Rama Ramascreen delivers another homerun with his review of   X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Blu-Ray Edition. Please make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . One of the most-well reviewed films of 2011 has arrived in Blu-ray. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, in my humble opinion, is also one of the best superhero movies ever made. Everything about this movie is just right. The perfect mix of drama and action complimented by Oscar-worthy performances from some of its key cast members. The film is also one of this year’s pleasant surprises, considering the production was ridiculously fast for a big budget summer movie, many even thought it was doomed from the start because the adaptation significantly went astray from the comic book that it’s based on. But the film worked, it surprisingly worked. This blu-ray shows you why and big chunk of it is because the story and the characters went back to the franchise’s basic, which is about control and self acceptanc

X-Men: First Class Magneto In Drag

Sometimes being an arch-nemesis is a real drag. The clip is from a Japaneses commercial promoting the deleted scenes for the upcoming DVD release of  X-Men: First Class Exhibit A: Consider this deleted scene from X-Men: First Class , included in the DVD out Sept. 9. It all starts innocently enough: Eric Lehnsherr ( Michael Fassbender ) and Charles Xavier ( James McAvoy ) are on a recruiting mission for their new, government-sanctioned mutant strike force. Angel ( Zoe Kravitz ) is working as a stripper, and they want to get her to reveal how her dragonfly tattoos actually emerge from her body to form real wings. Magneto levitated a champagne bucket to show her his power, but Angel never quite got a demonstration of Professor X’s mindbending abilities. Now we see why that was left on the cutting room floor.
