BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Entourage Film Is Green Lighted

Aquaman star Vinnie Chase is back, baby. Warner Bros has tonight given the green light on a movie version of Entourage , the HBO series that ran from 2004-2011. That gives a reprise for the inside Hollywood exploits of the up and coming film star, his manager and agent, his under-appreciated TV actor brother and the childhood pal/driver who form his inner circle. The film will be directed by series creator Doug Ellin, who wrote the screenplay and who exec produced the series with Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Deals are starting to be made with Adrian Grenier , who played Chase, Kevin Connolly , who played his manager Eric “E” Murphy, Kevin Dillon , who played the actor’s brother Johnny Drama, Jerry Ferrara , who played their entrepreneurial driver Turtle, and Jeremy Piven , who played the show’s iconic type A talent agent Ari Gold. I’m sure Drama’s agent Lloyd ( Rex Lee ), E’s girl Sloan ( Emmanuelle Chriqui ), his management partner Scott ( Scott Caan ), and their quirky d

Tom Hardy Is Heading To The Bush

Warner Bros is working on not one but two high-profile films about the illegal poaching and trafficking in endangered animals around the world. Both projects are being produced by Tobey Maguire‘s Material Pictures, Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way and Tom Hardy‘s Executive Options. I don’t know if both of these projects get made, but at a time when Hollywood studios are preoccupied with pretend crises like zombies and vampires, bravo for a major to step up and try to weave in a global problem like ivory trafficking into a drama. The first project is being written by Up In The Air co-writer Sheldon Turner as a star vehicle for Hardy , based on an idea by the Dark Knight Rises and Warrior star. The untitled film is set in Africa and the aim is for Hardy to play a former Special Forces soldier who signs on with a friend to work in the bush, training rangers to fight off the poachers decimating the rhino and elephant populations in Zimbabwe. The soldier falls in love with the land,

Robert De Niro & Sylvester Stallone Are Set For A Grudge Match

Warner Bros has set Kevin Hart to play the fight promoter who gets two retired brawlers back in the ring in Grudge Match . Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone are now set to play the fighters who square off in the ring, and the studio has greenlighted the film that will be directed by Peter Segal. Tim Kelleher wrote the script and the most recent draft is by Entourage architect Doug Ellin, with Billy Gerber and Mark Steven Johnson producing with Michael Ewing. Hart is hot stuff after Think Like A Man, but the draw here will be to see Rocky Balboa and Jake LaMotta from Raging Bull go at it in a grudge match. When I moderated a Tribeca Film Festival panel for Universal’s 100th birthday with De Niro and Judd Apatow, De Niro said he didn’t really see himself recapturing the killer shape he got into when he starred in Raging Bull and in Cape Fear. Now, he’s playing a retired fighter, but I’ll bet De Niro puts back on the six-pack, knowing that at 66, Stallone is always jacked.

Ben Affleck Might Just "Focus"

As Warner Bros prepares to open Ben Affleck’s Oscar-season entry Argo , the studio is in early talks with Affleck to star in Focus . Glenn Ficarra and John Requa wrote the script and will direct. Denise DiNovi is producing. All of this is subject to finding the right female lead, but it all sounds promising and Warner Bros is eager to move quickly and get this into production. Focus tells the story of a veteran con man who gets involved with a newcomer to the grifter business. They become involved romantically but that becomes perilous in a business where they lie and cheat for a living. The complications of the encounter haunt them when they meet up again in the future. Warner Bros’ purchased the project in April, when the first notion was for the directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love to bring back that film’s leads, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone . DiNovi produced that film as well. The Gosling-Stone configuration fell by the wayside awhile ago, but the studio is ready to go with A

Calm Down There Is No Director For Justice League Film

Today that implies Warner Bros will get Ben Affleck as director of its Justice League film. This is a story I checked out days ago, and didn’t run when Affleck’s reps stated that it was not going to happen with him. Now, it makes sense that Warner Bros would offer Affleck the project. Chris Nolan is top man over there, but after three Batfilms and after producing the Superman reboot Man of Steel , he’s gotten spandex-clad protagonists out of his system. After Nolan , the studio then offers everything else to Harry Potter director David Yates (who is now keen on Tarzan) and Affleck, who has become a major director with Gone Baby Gone, The Town , and the upcoming Argo . Just because the studio wants Affleck doesn’t mean he will do the movie, and several sources tell me he might take a meeting, but that’s it. After costing himself momentum as an actor with some questionable choices like Gigli, Affleck admirably scripted a second act for himself with his writing and directing ski

Stephen King's "IT" Coming To Big Screen's

Warner Bros’ adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It has a director and writer. Cary Fukunaga , the hot-shot filmmaker behind last year’s adaptation of Jane Eyre , is boarding the project as director and will co-write the script with Chase Palmer, who previously adapted Frank Herbert’s Dune for Paramount. Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing It, as are Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Production. A best-selling book when it was published in1986, It, like The Stand, is one of King’s biggest and most dense tomes, and the plan is for Fukunaga and Palmer to adapt the work into two films. The story follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle. The book was previously adapted in 19

Guy Ritchie Sails To Treasure Island

Warner Bros has attached Guy Ritchie to direct a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s pirate tale Treasure Island , and has set Alex Harakis to write the script. Ritchie will produce the film with his partner Lionel Wigram and Langley Park’s Kevin McCormick. It was Wigram who originally set up a stylized version of the classic novel, much the way he did Sherlock Holmes, which Ritchie directed. He set it up before he and Ritchie became partners. Their first move after partnering was to take on The Man From U.N.C.L.E., after Steven Soderbergh dropped out of the film. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

Danny McBride Is A Clown

Warner Bros has acquired remake rights to the Danish film and TV series Klovn . The studio has set Danny McBride to write and star in Clown , a film he will produce through his Rough House banner along with Todd Phillips and his Green Hat Films. The film follows the basic premise of the Mikkel Nørgaard-directed film, a concept created by Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam, who’ll also be producers on the project. The logline: two men and a 13-year old boy embark on an R-rated vacation. In the original film that followed the TV series, Casper and Frank plan a canoeing trip deemed “Tour de Pussy” in which they plan to party hard and have as much sex as possible. Then, Frank discovers his girlfriend is pregnant and wants to get rid of the baby. She’ll only relent if he can prove he’ll be a worthy father. Frank’s answer is to take her 11-year old son on the canoe trip, but he and his buddy don’t change any of their plans for debauchery. The film was widely compared to The Hangover, and

Dwayne Johnson To Star In Lore

Dwayne Johnson is attached to Lore , a pic that was just bought by Warner Bros as a star vehicle for Johnson stars in the upcoming GI Joe 2, Empire State, and Pain and Gain . Cory Goodman is writing with Jeremy Lott. The pic is based on the IDW graphic novel and Andrew Lazar, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs are producing. Deal was in the seven-figures. The graphic novel has been compared to Men in Black , with mythological creatures. Four studios bid on it. IDW’s Ted Adams and the graphic novel’s creator, Ashley Wood, will be exec producers along with Miri Yoon. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

Tatum & Kunis Offered Jupiter Ascending

Warner Bros has offered the leads in the Lana and Andy Wachowki -directed Jupiter Ascending to Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis . Plot is being kept under tight wraps, but for the Wachowkis, the film is their first major science fiction action franchise play since The Matrix. Like that trilogy, Jupiter Ascending is an original creation by the duo, and it’s on track to start production later this year. It comes at a time when Tatum is becoming a formidable leading man, particularly with his back-to-back box office successes The Vow and 21 Jump Street. Kunis, meanwhile, is coming off Black Swan and Friends With Benefits and stars in the Seth MacFarlane-directed comedy Ted and Sam Raimi-directed Oz: The Great And Powerful. The Wachowskis just finished Cloud Atlas . They had circulated to financiers a script last spring for a hard-R drama they wanted to direct about a gay relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi, but had trouble setting it up. Before Cloud Atlas, the siblings ha

Josh Trank To Direct The Red Star

Warner Bros has set Josh Trank to develop to direct The Red Star , an adaptation of a graphic novel that will be scripted by Jason Rothenberg. Neal Moritz will produce through his Original Film shingle. Trank made his feature directing debut on Chronicle and after the $12 million film grossed $116 million and was that rare low budget, no star genre film to receive strong reviews, Trank has been up for much bigger jobs. Among those conversations is the Fantastic Four reboot at Fox and the Spider-Man spinoff Venom at Sony Pictures. But The Red Star is the first one that has led to a deal for a film that has a writer working on the project. The Soviet-themed sci-fi fantasy comic book series was picked up by Warner Bros after Universal let it go. Created by Christian Gossett, the comic is set in an alternate USSR where futuristic technology co-mingles with magical elements. The protagonist is a Red Fleet soldier who goes up against an ex-leader who rules with an iron fist. Rothenbe

Lucid Coming To The Big Screen

Just a few days after picking up the whimsical dinosaur-next-door title Bolivar, Warner Bros. have made a second deal with comics publisher Archaia. This time it's for Lucid , and it'll once again be developed and produced by Akiva Goldsman. Lucid's set-up is in a slightly skewed version of our own world, where magic exists, and governments employ "combat mages" as spies to ward off international supernatural threats. Our hero is a rookie "Protector of the Realm", taking on a dealer in black market occult technology. Variety describe Lucid as Harry Potter, if Harry Potter grew up and joined the CIA. The comic is by Michael McMillian (who plays Steve in True Blood) and Anna Wieszczyk. That Potter comparison goes some way to explaining Warners' interest in the comic, since there's a large Hogwarts-shaped hole in their production slate these days. All eyes are on a potential franchise. No screewriter is attached yet, but added to the Warner/A

I Am Legend Sequel On It's Way

Warner Bros has closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to produce another installment of I Am Legend , the 2007 hit film. The intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on Earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population. A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script. The film is not being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees more room to roam on a film that grossed $584 million worldwide. The original film is based on the novel by Richard Matheson. Smith won’t commit until the script is ready and I haven’t heard yet where I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence stands on the whole thing. The other quandary is this: If it isn’t a prequel, how to get past Smith’s character’s demise at the first film’s end? These of course are semantics in the tentpole game. Warner Bros and Legendar

Emma Watson Your Voice In My Head

Warner Bros is negotiating to acquire Your Voice in My Head , the Emma Forrest -scripted drama based on the scribe’s memoir that is expected to be the next film by director David Yates . The film is shaping up to be a Harry Potter reunion. Yates is in discussions with Emma Watson to star in the role of a young woman who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who’s dying of cancer. Watson and Yates worked together on the last four Harry Potter films. Warner Bros has made it a priority to get right back in business with Yates. The studio offered him its script Imitation Game, but Yates didn’t bite and the studio is putting together a list of directors I’m told includes Ralph Fiennes and Bryan Singer. As for the lead male role in Your Voice in My Head, the studio is aiming high, with names like Tom Hanks and George Clooney in the mix. Yates is expected to make this film before he does A Reliable Wife at Sony. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

Tom Hardy Talks Al Capone In Cicero

Tom Hardy has spoken to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye about his upcoming role as Al Capone in Cicero . Hardy will play the infamous gangster after he has finished shooting Mad Max: FuryRoad . He told Bamigboye: "I’ve been working with Warner Bros, watching their gangster films — the ones with James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson," naming The Petrified Forest, The Public Enemy and Little Caesar as examples. "It’s interesting to get them, and a bit of Capone, into the bloodstream… The idea isn’t to remake those films but to get a flavour of them as we explore Capone’s career as a racketeer." On the status of the movie (which is set to be directed by Harry Potter's David Yates), Hardy added: "The idea at the moment is of doing a trilogy of films, but nothing is set. Everyone is just talking and exploring." Tom Hardy will next be seen in This Means War, before appearing as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises Please Leave A Co

Eva Green To Do Battle As Artemisia

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ 300 prequel hasn't found its male star yet, but the movie is zeroing in on its female lead. Eva Green has entered negotiations to play Artemisia in the movie, which is currently working with the title 300: Battle of Artemisia . Noam Murro (Smart People) is directing. The epic follow-up to 2006's Gerard Butler action pic 300 sees the Persian king-turned-god Xerxes lead an army against Greek forces, who have little training but are under the guidance of a general named Themistokles. (The giant battle at the center of this movie is supposed to occur at the same time as the fighting in 300.) Green would play a ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades Xerxes to amass his army and helps lead them into battle. The studio is hoping to start production in the first quarter of 2012. Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari, Bernie Goldman, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Thomas Tull are producing. British actress Green may be best known to Americ

HAPPY FEET TWO Movie Review By: RAMA

HAPPY FEET TWO Movie Review By: RAMA Did Mumble and crew have RAMA dancing in his seat during the movie? Please make sure to Follow him on Facebook and Twitter . I don’t care what haters say, I think HAPPY FEET TWO is better than its predecessor. It’s more fun, more entertaining, with a solid storyline and a group of interesting new characters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big supporter of saving planet earth, but what felt forced about the first film was its heavy environmental agenda, halfway thought its story it became some kind of Public Service Announcement. HAPPY FEET TWO has a bit of that, but not as much. The message of solidarity and even the little guys could make a difference, speak truer. With the fantastic animation and excellent voice cast, HAPPY FEET TWO will get your feet tapping… In the film, Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son Erik is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven – a penguin who ca

Will The Scorpio Races Be The Next Twilight?

The hunt for the next Twilight or Hunger Games continues. Warner Bros has picked up the movie rights to The Scorpio Races , a young adult fantasy novel by Maggie Stiefvater for David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith’s KatzSmith Productions to produce. The book, released last week, involves mythological flesh-eating horses from Celtic lore, a scraggy island that hosts an annual race, a young horse trainer and a young woman (the first female to enter the competition) who eventually fall for each other. Stiefvater is the author of the best-selling Shiver trilogy , which are young adult novels revolving around werewolves and first love. The trilogy has more than 1.6 million copies in print in the US. KatzSmith’s deal is relatively new at Warners but it’s been quite active. Last month it set up the Jonathan Stokes spec Murders and Acquisitions, a Wall Street action comedy, and earlier in October picked up the rights to Alive in Necropolis, a detective story in the real-life cemet
