Now that British hunk Henry Cavill is set to play the Man of Steel , the search is on the fill out the rest of the cast of Warner Bros.' big-budget Superman reboot. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder are zeroing in on an intriguing actor to play the villain: Viggo Mortensen . Mortensen , who is still in negotiations for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman , is said to be at the top of the list to play General Zod , the evil and super-powered scientist who was portrayed by Terrence Stamp in 1980's Superman II. If Mortensen's Snow White deal doesn't close, that would potentially free him up to make Superman. Or Universal and Warner Bros. could work out his schedule and enable him to do both. Sources say no talks have commenced and that Mortensen is just a "person of interest," much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent. New pictures from the upcoming film On The Road , the film stars Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Terrence Howard,Steve Buscemi and Sam Riley . It is being produced by Francis Ford Coppola. On the Road is a film adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name. The story is based on the years Kerouac spent traveling America in the 1940's with his friend Neal Cassady and several other figures who would go onto fame in their own right, including William S. Kristen Stewart the Twilight star is on the list for the role of Snow White in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman . The movie, being directed by Rupert Sanders , is in deep casting mode, with Viggo Mortensen entering negotiations to play the Huntsman earlier Wednesday. Charlize Theron is in negotiations to play the evil queen . Stewart is a name that Universal has kept coming back to since acquiring the project even as it went through a series of screen tests with actresses such as Riley Keough, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander . Viggo Mortensen On The Road Francis Ford Coppola has been working for 30 years to turn Jack Kerouac 's seminal Beat Generation novel On the Road into a movie. It is starting to look like it was worth the wait. Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen are joining the Walter Salles-directed adaptation that will begin this month, I'm told. She will play Jane, the emotionally damaged junkie mother of two children and the wife of Old Bull Lee. Mortensen is going to play Lee. Eastern Promises 2 Coming Soon This is a busy time for Webster. He's also lining up a sequel to Eastern Promises, with Viggo Mortensen reprising his role as the Russian Mafia hit man. David Cronenberg will direct Steve Knight’s script. The Focus Features project hopes to go this winter. First, Mortensen and Cronenberg have to work together on the Sigmund Freud picture, The Talking Cure.
