Variety is reporting " Baby Driver ” star Eiza Gonzalez has joined the ensemble of Universal’s “ Fast and Furious ” spinoff “ Hobbs and Shaw ” starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham . The role was a last-minute addition, and sources say execs favored Gonzalez, but scheduling had to be worked out with Legendary’s “Godzilla vs. Kong,” which features Gonzalez and is also about to begin shooting. Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby are also on board with David Leitch directing. “Fast and Furious” architect Chris Morgan penned the script. The film will see the titular, often-at-odds pair teaming up. It is unknown who Gonzalez will be playing. Since his arrival in the franchise’s fifth installment, Universal has tried to find a way to spin off Johnson’s Hobbs character, given his popularity with fans. Statham joined the series in the seventh movie, and considering the chemistry between the two actors in 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious,” Universal took action on plans to devel

Dwayne Johnson Instagrammed our first look of Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw, sister of Deckard Shaw. “ Deadpool 2 ” director, David Leitch who also gave us “ John Wick ” and “ Atomic Blonde ” will direct Universal’s “ Fast & Furious ” spinoff movie, “ Hobbs and Shaw ” focusing on Dwayne Johnson ’s character Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham ’s character, Deckard Shaw, both of whom had appeared in recent installments of this franchise. This project was why Universal Pictures moved “Fast & Furious 9” to 2020. The main writer of this franchise, Chris Morgan, returns again to pen the script for this spinoff which reportedly will be about Diplomatic Security Service agent, Luke Hobbs and former bad guy turned Hobbs’ friend, Deckard Shaw (Statham) as they go off on their own adventure. The last time Dwayne Johnson fired up his hugely popular Instagram account to share an image of his latest, Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs And Shaw , he hadn't even set foot on set yet. He's actually showed up for work now, and above you can see him staring at Jason Statham . It looks like the pair's partnership is going to lean more closely towards the "uneasy" level, but hopefully they'll be able to put aside practicing their Paddington hard stares long enough to actually fight some bad guys. Later this summer Idris Elba is releasing his directorial debut Yardie — but don’t go thinking that he’s putting acting on the back-burner. The striking The Imitation Game has "Oscar Bait" written all over it. Review by Matt Cummings For those of us who've ever been labeled a 'nerd' or 'geek' when it was unfashionable to be one, the last few years have been particularly fulfilling. No more the objects of ridicule, we're a fixture on television (The Big Bang Theory, Scorpion) and our actions save and remake the world ( Skyfall , The Theory of Everything ). That's a joke obviously, but for Mathematician Alan Turing it couldn't have been more true. Perhaps Geek #1 and a force in the ending of WWII, Turing gets his own biopic in the Oscar-worthy The Imitation Game , a movie that's far more than its title suggests. Turning (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a brilliant mathematician who's watched Britain become engulfed in the madness of WWII with seemingly no way to keep Adolf Hitler's meteoric rise from leading to his country's eventual end. The key to German
