Our list concludes with Hammers, Shields , an Iron Dude , and an epic superhero mashup. We've been counting down our top 10 Marvel films, which wasn't an easy thing considering our conundrum at #6.  We even felt a little Green Rage Monster inside of us at having to decide.  But decide we did, and so here is the rest of our list.  Please read our full reviews under each number: 6-4: THREE-WAY TIE -   Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013)  Much like our bowels, our love for these three constantly shift.  We love FA because of its wholesome goodness wrapped in evil Red Skull-ness, as little Stevie Rogers becomes the ripped Avenger.  Director Joe Johnston even throws in a little Raider of the Lost Ark  reference as Hugo Weaving holds The Tesseract in his possession.  For Thor and Thor 2 , we love Loki and his high-jinks - Tom Hiddleston is Loki  in every way, embodying the desperation of a god who just gets no respect.  W

This is one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood. And now, after critic- and fan-lauded star turns in Thor, The Avengers, and Snow White And The Huntsman , Chris Hemsworth will be working with Steven Spielberg . Deadline is reporting that Spielberg met and now wants Hemsworth in his next helming effort Robopocalypse , the big technothriller which is sure to become the director’s next big global popcorn film. The Disney-Fox-DreamWorks’ actioner is releasing worldwide on April 25, 2014. (That’s the same weekend that Marvel’s The Avengers was released internationally this year. Disney distributes Robopocalypse domestically, Fox overseas.) The script based on the Daniel H. Wilson epic novel about the human race’s attempt to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising was most recently adapted by hot screenwriter Kario Salem, who has been rewriting Drew Goddard. The search for a Thor 2 director to replace Patty Jenkins has ended. Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Alan Taylor , best known for directing episodes of HBO's fantasy series Game Of Thrones , has nabbed the job. Jenkins (Monster) made headlines in early December when she departed the high-profile sequel to May's Thor. Both she and Marvel cited "creative differences" but THR's Kim Masters later revealed that Marvel abruptly dismissed Jenkins when the studio felt she was showing “a lack of overall clarity in her choices,” according to one source. Marvel was concerned that the filmmaking process would be “difficult” and that the planned release date might be hard to hit. The move to jettison Jenkins infuriated star Natalie Portman, who had been excited about Jenkins becoming the first woman to direct a major superhero tentpole film. A source speculated that Marvel executives might have been won over initially by Portman’s enthusiasm for Jenkins b

Break out the bug spray! Sony Pictures Über-producer Neal Moritz has decided that the time has come to reboot Paul Verhoeven's 1997 fascist classic Starship Troopers . He has assigned the script to screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, who, among other things, wrote Thor and X-Men: First Class, as well as many episodes of the TV shows Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe . Of course, they also wrote Agent Cody Banks, which makes one think that Frankie Muniz could be the perfect former child star to take over the Neil Patrick Harris role. A new Starship Troopers follows remake plans for Verhoeven's Total Recall and RoboCop. How long until his Basic Instinct and Showgirls get updated? Though he wasn't exactly the most likely of choices, Kenneth Branagh managed to turn Marvel's Thor into a fun, blockbuster addition to the Marvel movie canon. His name won't be on Thor 2 when it hits theaters in 2013, but Branagh says that if the timing were right, he'd love to go back to the Marvel universe. In a new interview promoting a number of projects, including the acclaimed new release My Week With Marilyn, which sees him return to the big screen as an actor, Branagh confirms that it was really only timing that kept him from returning to the world of Marvel's God of Thunder. Patty Jenkins is the choice to direct Thor 2 for Marvel Studios. No negotiations have begun but Jenkins, who directed the 2003 Charlize Theron movie Monster and recently the pilot for AMC's acclaimed crime show The Killing , vied with several other directors for the gig, and now will become the first woman director in Marvel Studios' stable of helmers. Some outlets reported in early August that Brian Kirk, a director behind many Game of Thrones episodes, was in early negotiations to direct but those reports were wrong as Kirk never got past the meeting stage. Sony announced last week that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would be released on May 2, 2014, before they even have any idea whether we like the first film in the rebooted franchise. But that's not all Marvel has in store for us in 2014. Disney announced today it would be releasing TWO more Marvel movies in 2014—one on May 16, 2014, two weeks after the coming Spidey sequel, and another on June 27, 2014—but they're not saying a word about just which superheroes will be invading theaters two summers from now. By then, we'll have seen Avengers (May 4, 2012), Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013) and Thor 2 (July 26, 2013)—so where does that leave us? WIll it be time for a return of one of the superheroes we've already seen on screen, maybe a Captain America 2 ? Or will we get to see someone new, like Dr. Strange or the Guardians of the Galaxy ? Bruce Willis in talks to join the cast of Paramount’s G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation , with the veteran action actor marked to play the original Joe. Willis, if a deal comes together, would play General Joe Colton , the man who in 1980s comic books starts the G.I. Joe strike team, called the ultimate freedom fighting force, and got the handle G.I. Joe. Jon M. Chu is directing the Lorenzo di Bonaventura-produced action movie, which is bringing a mostly new cast to the franchise. Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson and RZA are among the recruits for the second film. The movie begins shooting later this month in New Orleans. Paramount has staked out a June 29, 2012 release date. Thor actor Ray Stevenson has been cast as villain Firefly in Paramount’s G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes . The action movie, to be directed by Jon M. Chu, begins shooting in Louisiana at the end of summer and is slated for release in August 2012. Stevenson will appear opposite Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson in the film, which is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and follows G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, a hit in 2009. Disney has set a July 26, 2013 release date for Thor 2 . Marvel Studios, which is in production on the Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers , is making a full commitment to Thor 2 , with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the title hero. Marvel will need to hire a director for that film because, I've learned, Kenneth Branagh won't be returning as helmer. Branagh, who directed the first film and watched it gross $437 million worldwide with a few territories still playing out, will likely be involved in some producing capacity. Sony is the latest studio to jump into the black ops game, picking up Shadow Runner , an original thriller with Chris Hemsworth attached to star. Plot details are being kept secret although it is known it involves elite commandos. The project is based on an original idea from Hossein Amini, who is one of the writers of Snow White and the Huntsman , which also stars Hemsworth. Hemsworth is best known for his star-turning performance as Thor, a character he will reprise in next summer’s The Avengers. He worked with Vinson and Flynn on the duo’s remake of Red Dawn. With THOR ruleing the box office the past two weeks it was only a matter of time before we heard news of a sqeal to the film. Cinemablend  has reported that their source said that they’ve already begun kicking around story ideas for the sequel with the hope that they’ll have it ready and in theaters in the same year as Iron Man 3, in 2013. That fits the pattern we’re seeing this summer, with both Thor and Captain America hitting theaters in the same year. Thor 2 project is still in very early stages and they don’t expect to start actually writing the script until the end of the year, internally producers are kicking around possible villains.
