BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

The #XFiles First Set Photo

Ever since word broke earlier this year that The X-Files will be re-opened for a limited run next year, you’ve been wondering how Mulder and Scully will look in the new six-episode series. Well, given that we know what David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson look like, it’s not hard to guess, but here comes photographic evidence courtesy of the series’ official Twitter account . Yes, it’s not the typically glamorous studio shot or posed set photo we’re used to – this is taken from a monitor on the production. But it’s enough to see that Mulder appears to have let himself go in the years since the second film, while Scully still dresses like she belongs in the FBI. Quite where we’ll find them and what they’ll be up to is another matter, but we do know that Mitch Pileggi is also back and that Joel McHale (who has been posting less-than spoiler-filled tweets of his own from the shoot) will be aboard, playing the anchor of an internet news service who becomes an unlikely ally for Mulde

TV Review: Aquarius

The truth is out there, man. Review by Brandon Wolfe David Duchovny has always possessed a unique presence for a star. Charismatic while perpetually monotone, funny while dry as the Sahara, Duchovny’s quirkiness and ability to engage are not impeded by his clinical, manbot exterior. On The X-Files , Duchovny found the perfect conduit for his skills in Fox Mulder, a character who, like Duchovny, had a square outer layer incongruously concealing the eccentric charmer underneath. That this suit-wearing stiff with the Ben Stein vocal inflection could also be a crackpot who believes in every paranormal anomaly under the sun summed up the strange juxtaposition inherent to the actor, that surprisingly smooth marriage of rigid and wild. In Aquarius , the new NBC crime series, Duchovny is handed a character that isn’t nearly as tailored to him as Mulder. He plays the awkwardly named Detective Sam Hodiak, a no-nonsense brute of a cop working the beat in 1967 Los Angeles. And though Duchovny

Sam Hodiak ( David Duchovny , "Californication," "The X-Files"), a decorated World War II vet and homicide detective, barely recognizes the city he's now policing. Long hair, cheap drugs, rising crime, protests, free love, police brutality, Black Power and the Vietnam War are radically remaking the world he and the Greatest Generation saved from fascism 20 years ago. So when Emma Karn ( Emma Dumont , "Salvation," "Bunheads"), the 16-year-old daughter of an old girlfriend, goes missing in a sea of hippies and Hodiak agrees to find her, he faces only hostility, distrust and silence. He enlists the help of Brian Shafe ( Grey Damon , "True Blood," "Friday Night Lights") - a young, idealistic undercover vice cop who's been allowed to grow his hair out - to infiltrate this new counterculture and find her. The generational conflict between the two is immediate and heated,

Fox Officially Reopens The X-Files

The truth is that six new episodes will soon be out there. By Brandon Wolfe Looks like those rumors have panned out: The X-Files is indeed returning to television. The iconic ‘90s sci-fi series will be returning to Fox as a six-episode event series a whopping 13 years after it bowed out. Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their roles as FBI agents Mulder and Scully and series creator/executive producer Chris Carter will also be returning. Production on the event series will gear up this summer, but the air date and plot have yet to be revealed. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.” It’s actually been just seven years since Mulder and Scully last resurfaced, in 2008’s critical and commercial big-screen failure, The X-Files: I Want to Believe . That sequel seemed to be the death knell for the franchise as we knew it, but thi

Duchovny Open to X-Files TV Revival

Mulder Wants Back on the Case In a follow-up to the recent report that Fox intends on dusting off The X-Files in the near future, USA Today has revealed that David Duchovny, who starred on the series for seven of its nine seasons as Agent Fox Mulder, is open to reprising his role for the revival. Duchovny stated that he is "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter)." The actor went on to say "I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season." Duchovny’s availability could be an obstacle. He will appear on the upcoming NBC series Aquarius , while Anderson has recently been upgraded to a series regular on NBC’s Hannibal . But this n

Fox in Talks to Reboot The X-Files

The Reboot is Out There In what has seemed like an inevitability for some time now, plans have begun at 20th Century Fox to launch a reboot of its iconic ‘90s megahit The X-Files . According to Deadline , Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman has confirmed that talks have taken place to bring the sci-fi series back to the airwaves, and that he was “hopeful” about the prospect of it happening. Series creator Chris Carter alluded to the possibility of a reboot last summer, though his level of involvement in the new series has yet to be determined. Also unclear is how much of a role, if any, original series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson might have. One suspects the network will want a new, younger crop of FBI agents investigating phenomena. The X-Files aired on Fox from 1993-2002 and was among the defining television series of the Clinton era, garnering huge ratings and spawning two feature films. The second film, 2008’s I Want To Believe , was a box-office failure and se
