BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Pennywise Has Been Cast For Stephen King's It

We're The Millers star to do a different kind of clowning around. By Brandon Wolfe The big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s It has found its Pennywise. The demonic clown will be portrayed by Will Poulter, who is perhaps best known from We’re The Millers . Poulter seems like a strange choice for the role, but a quick glance at his somewhat sinisterly structured face may be the key to understanding the decision. There’s something going on with the eyebrow/forehead region there that’s unsettling. It , which will be directed by True Detective ’s Cary Fukunaga and be split between two films, is the story of a group of children who confront a child-killing entity who often takes the form of a clown, only to have it return to plague them as adults. It was previously adapted into an equal-parts scary and hokey TV miniseries in 1990 with Tim Curry as Pennywise. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . #TheShawshankRedemption Why We Love The Film So Much

When it premiered on September 23, 1994, “ The Shawshank Redemption ” barely registered at the box office. The prison drama opened at No. 9, below the odious sex comedy “ Exit to Eden ” and just above Robert Redford’s “ Quiz Show ,” already in its fifth week. Though nominated for seven Academy Awards, the film failed to connect with audiences and vanished from theaters with little fanfare. And then, slowly but surely, its fortunes began to change. On its 20th anniversary, here’s how “ The Shawshank Redemption ” beat the odds and became a beloved classic. Stephen King Prior to 1982, most readers thought of King as an author who wrote only horror, but the publication of “ Different Seasons ” changed all that. A critically acclaimed bestseller, this beautifully crafted collection of four dramatic novellas introduced King to an even broader audience. The book’s first story, “ Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption ,” remains one of his most deeply humane and hopeful works of ficti

Stephen King's "IT" Coming To Big Screen's

Warner Bros’ adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It has a director and writer. Cary Fukunaga , the hot-shot filmmaker behind last year’s adaptation of Jane Eyre , is boarding the project as director and will co-write the script with Chase Palmer, who previously adapted Frank Herbert’s Dune for Paramount. Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing It, as are Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Production. A best-selling book when it was published in1986, It, like The Stand, is one of King’s biggest and most dense tomes, and the plan is for Fukunaga and Palmer to adapt the work into two films. The story follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle. The book was previously adapted in 19

The Dark Tower Coming To HBO

Though the situation looked bleak for Ron Howard, Akiva Goldsman and Brian Grazer’s ambitious plan to bring Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series to life as a set of films and TV shows when Universal shut down development, the three main players have not lost faith in their attempt to get the project on its feet. And now, talking to MTV , Grazer has explained that the priority will be the TV section, with US cable channel HBO stepping in to pick up the slack. "We're going to do The Dark Tower with HBO," Grazer says. "We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with… to be determined. We'll do it right." Just a couple of days ago, Grazer had dropped mention to The Playlist that they’d managed to slice a chunk of the budget off, which means we’ll get to see the film – or films – eventually. And he confirms the new, thriftier cost to MTV: "We're going to do that movie. We've lost $45 million out of the budget. When people say no

Monopoly Movie Is Still Hot Property

Monopoly may have been dropped by Universal but the project is still a hot piece of real estate. Hasbro and Ridley Scott , who are producing the board game adaptation, are building up the property and have set Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski to pen a script. The well-respected duo are best known for movies such as Ed Wood and People vs Larry Flynt , and more recently wrote the Stephen King adaptation 1408 . Producing Monopoly are Hasbro’s Bennett Schneir and Brian Goldner. Scott also is producing and is attached to direct. Monopoly, which is about gaining market dominance via real estate and utilities, was one of the projects on which Universal and Hasbro partnered in 2008 to bring to the big-screen. It was also one of the projects dropped in recent months as Universal realigned its focus. Ouija and Clue were some of the other titles let go, but all are still in active development. Ouija, unshackled last month, is still being scrutinized by other studios while Clue
