Universal has delivered another look at their upcoming film SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN via Facebook . A new photo from Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman shows the evil queen, played by Charlize Theron , giving off a very deadly glare. In the new image, Theron can be seen wearing a striking, spiky crown, and a very royal looking metallic outfit. She sits atop her thrown, giving someone the evil eye. This is the same outfit that the queen wears in some of her most memorable scenes from the trailer, like when she holds a young girl by her throat and seems to suck the life right out of her. There’s no denying that Theron’s version of the evil queen is going to rule Universal’s film. In the first trailer , which premiered in November, her character not only narrates, but also screams like the best of villains, takes a milk bath and turns into a bunch of big, scary looking blackbirds. Screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos has been hired to work on the script for Universal's Asteroids project. The studio outbid other suitors for film rights to the simple, late-'70s Atari video game two years ago. The plotline for the film adaptation has evolved into the story of two estranged brothers that must team up to save Earth from an alien race. Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) originally worked on the script. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) is producing. Universal has Battleship, inspired by a Hasbro board game, hitting theaters in May. Summit Entertainment has come aboard to remake the Dutch horror thriller Zwart Water with Charlize Theron attached to produce and star. Scott Derrickson, the writer-director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose , will helm the remake from a script he wrote with Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman. Zwart Water centers on a nine-year girl old who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother's dead twin. Theron is attached to play the mother, who is not quite right in the head, as they say. The movie, which was released in Europe last year, was re-titled Two Eyes Staring when hit international circuits, most recently playing at Fantastic Fest in September. Theron picked up the remake rights last year via her Denver and Delilah Films banner, and later tapped Derrickson and Boardman. Theron and Beth Kono are producing via Denver and Delilah. The game of one-upmanship between Universal and Relativity over their competing Snow White movies ramped up at Comic-Con—and Universal now has the edge. Sony is the latest studio to jump into the black ops game, picking up Shadow Runner , an original thriller with Chris Hemsworth attached to star. Plot details are being kept secret although it is known it involves elite commandos. The project is based on an original idea from Hossein Amini, who is one of the writers of Snow White and the Huntsman , which also stars Hemsworth. Hemsworth is best known for his star-turning performance as Thor, a character he will reprise in next summer’s The Avengers. He worked with Vinson and Flynn on the duo’s remake of Red Dawn. Amini, who will also executive produce Shadow Runner, is the writer of Drive, the buzzed-about movie starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.
