"Dear John" Over Takes "Avatar"

"Dear John" Over Takes "Avatar" Finally a movie has over taken the all mighty Avatar and it was a love story. With it being Superbowl weekend and all the guys at home and the women nothing to do, they flocked to the movies this weekend. Sony-quarterbacked "Dear John" thwarted a drive by James Cameron's "Avatar" for an eighth No. 1 weekend, as the over-achieving romantic drama's wily counter-programming play scored an estimated $32.4 million in opening domestic boxoffice during Super Bowl weekend. "Avatar" posted a $23.6 million tally to grab second place on the frame, just days after receiving nine Oscar nominations. The sci-fi epic -- which this week became the top-grossing domestic release ever, after previously setting foreign and global records -- lifted its cumulative boxoffice to $630.1 million domestically and $2.21 billion worldwide. He ends up getting sucked into the madness, and ends up fighting for survival. Tyrese credits having great agents to get him the role in LEGION. “I give my team love all the time,” he said. “They keep their radars out there for projects like this. Once Paul Bettany signed on to a Sony Screen Gems project, it was like, okay, this is like the heavyweight actor that’s classically trained in all of this stuff and coming off of the Da Vinci Code, it’s like, what’s this project that Paul Bettany has signed on to. Everybody was buzzing about it and then Charles Dutton and

Legion Director Plans 2 Sequels

Legion Director Plans 2 Sequels Scott Stewart, the writer and co-director of Legion, said he has plans for two more films that could be done in very different genres—if the apocalyptic film about a battle among angels does well when it opens on Jan. 22. Stewart not only directed and co-wrote (with Peter Schink) the movie, but he also co-wrote the four-issue comic book Legion: Prophets with Tom Waltz for IDW Publishing. Characters mentioned or referred to in the movie are fleshed out in the comic book, which came out last November and is considered a prequel to the film. "I have two other films in mind after Legion," Stewart told SCI FI Wire on Sunday at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention. "Yeah, we talked about it, and I have mapped out two other very different kinds of movies." Stewart and cast members screened footage of the film and answered questions at the convention. "Of course, it's too early to say how if it will happen, but I

Wanda and Sheneneh To Get Their Own Film. Remember Them?

Wanda and Sheneneh To Get Their Own Film. Remember Them? It all started with a skit on the BET Awards Show and now it's turning into a film. I did enjoy Wanda and Sheneneh when they were on their respected shows, but to make a movie with both of them. Wow unheard of. Screen Gems has picked up the rights to Sheneneh And Wanda, a comedy about two African-American ladies who start robbing banks. Oh, and the ladies in question will be played, in full-on drag, by Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence. Both Sheneneh and the cross-eyed Wanda have been knocking about for years – Lawrence came up with Sheneneh on his self-titled TV show, while Foxx played Wanda during his In Living Color days – but nobody had the bright idea of combining the two in an actual, honest-to-goodness movie until June of this year, when the two graced the BET Awards by making a fake trailer for a fake movie, Skank Robbers, which united the duo. Reaction to the trailer – which actually has a couple of decent lines in it,

Underworld 4 a Go. And will be in 3-D

Underworld 4 a Go. And will be in 3-D Sony's Screen Gems is moving ahead with a fourth film in the "Underworld" franchise and is targeting a January 2011 release. The movie will be shot in 3-D. We've received no word yet if Underworld: Rise of the Lycans stars Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra, or former franchise stars Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman will return for the next film. Back in February, we reported that the studio was pleased with the performance of the prequel that opened on January 23. The film was made for just $35 million and earned $91.1 million worldwide, not counting DVD and Blu-ray sales. The film could star Either Kate Beckinsale or Rhona Mitra both are great eye candy to look at and the movies aren't half bad either. Source- ShockTillYouDrop
