Variety is reporting Disney and Lucasfilm are inching closer to finding their young Han Solo for the upcoming untitled “ Star Wars ” spinoff. After seeing thousands of actors, execs have cut the list down to about a dozen actors with Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman , “Brooklyn” star Emory Cohen and “Everybody Wants Some” actor Blake Jenner among the names making the cut. NDAs and test deals are still being worked out, but producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will begin testing the new group with a decision expected in the next couple of weeks. The film does not shoot until next January, but sources close to the situation say the reason for such an early decision has more to do with another “Star Wars” film currently shooting, rather than the untitled “Han Solo” pic. Taken' director Pierre Morel will produce the project to be shopped at the Toronto Film Festival. Overdrive is getting back in gear. According to THR Scott Eastwood will star in Overdrive , an action project being produced by Taken director Pierre Morel and Christopher Tuffin. The story centers on two car thieves, brothers, who journey to the south of France for new opportunities and wind up in the crosshairs of the local crime boss. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas wrote the script and are also producing. Antonio Negret, who helmed the Jim Caviezel action flick Transit, is directing. Sentient Entertainment's Renee Tab is executive producer. The project has been around since at least 2011 and has gone through a couple of iterations. Being based in Sacramento you are automatically a Sacramento Kings fans and I don't mind that they have a had some pretty good runs in the past. The Sacramento Kings/Suicide Squad mashup trailer is pretty epic. And Rajon Rondo playing the Jokers role in the trailer was pretty cool to see.
