Aint it Cool News has confirmed a recent rumour from What’s Playing that a second “Tron” sequel is on it’s way to being greenlit. According to Harry Knowles, “ TRON Legacy ”, released in December to mixed reviews, is “set to cross $300 million worldwide” and “has proved, beyond a doubt that there is an audience that buys this science fiction fantasy.” But it’s not just the film that’s helped the brand biggen – the merchandise (those light cycles; action figures, and so on) and CD soundtrack (by Daft Punk) have also helped Tron’s case. “Disney is beginning to realize, TRON could be a franchise”, wrote Knowles.
