Movie Review: 'Tomorrowland'

Disney's Tomorrowland is a mass-branding, incoherent bore. WARNING: Major spoilers ahead. Review by Matt Cummings A young person's mind is like a sponge, taking in anything and everything in an attempt to understand its world and (more importantly) its purpose. Children are wonderfully investigative, perhaps more so than parents would prefer on occasion. For a film like Disney's Tomorrowland , that love of information, imagination, and youthful exuberance should be proudly on display. Instead, it's a mass-branding, incoherent bore that few kids will stick around to finish. The disenfranchised scientist Frank Walker (George Clooney) was once a wide-eyed 10 year-old (Thomas Robinson), enthusiastically dreaming and building machines that he thought would improve his world. As a boy, Frank attends the 1964 New York World’s Fair and meets the British girl Athena (Raffey Cassidy), who gives him a pin that unlocks a magical, futuristic world. Parallel

This is Where I Leave You Review: Ensemble Talent Wasted on Neutered Plot

This is Where I Leave You wants desperately to be the next Big Chill. Here's why it's not even close. For Director Shawn Levy, life must feel pretty good. A master of producing some of the dullest comedy films in recent memory, Levy churns these out like a cow produces milk, collecting his paycheck and moving on the next low-hanging fruit. His newest submission This is Where I Leave You is more of the same, a dull, formulaic mess that never utilizes its considerable talents above a resting heartbeat. When news reaches the Attman children that their father has passed away, the four adult siblings return to their childhood home to deal with the repercussions. Daughter Wendy (Tina Fey) is in an unsatifying marriage, while brother Phillip (Adam Driver) lives a fast life full of excuses but little success. Meanwhile, elder-brother Judd (Jason Bateman) learns that his wife is having an affair with his boss, while Brother Paul (Stahl) seems to be the only responsible one

We also talk to her about her role in the upcoming film  D- Train and playing  Joyce Darling in the hit series  Mad Men.  She keeps us up to date on her future project and what song she loves to sing while in her car. We would like to thank Adria for taking the time to sit down and talk to us.  1. So tell us, who is Adria Tennor? I’m an actress and a writer and a restaurant owner. I’m from the suburbs of Detroit, but moved to New York City for college, where I studied directing. As a directing student, I had to take all the classes that the actors had to take PLUS my directing classes. I actually really wanted to be an actor, but they’d asked me to stop in the middle of my audition monologue because I was so bad, and they talked to me about my directing that I had done in high school and that’s how I was accepte

Bad Words Review. Fails To Deliver The Knockout Punch

Bad Words Review By: Matt Cummings The spelling bee from Hell comedy Bad Words is mostly fun, but fails to deliver the knockout punch. Actor Jason Bateman has made a fortune playing nice guys who get wrapped up in craziness - his newest release Bad Words sees him move to the director's chair to craft a crass and ugly spelling bee comedy that fails to hold our attention. Guy Tribly (Bateman) starts the movie by telling us "I'm not good at a lot of things, especially thinking things through." An angry 40-something, Guy's been traveling the country appearing at spelling bee competitions to outclass the event's directors via a loophole that allows him to participate. His most-recent victory earns him the wrath of local parents as they chase him to his car. But Guy's on a mission, dragging the online blogger Jenny (Kathryn Hahn) with him, whose site is paying his entrance fees and hotels. While she attempts to figure out his backstory,
