Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in JASON BOURNE . Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum , once again joins Damon for the next chapter of Universal Pictures’ Bourne franchise, which finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows. For JASON BOURNE, Damon is joined by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones , while Julia Stiles reprises her role in the series. Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment, and Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. If you were waiting for rock solid proof – despite word of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon returning and a flurry of recent casting – that the Jason Bourne films are really, truly back, then wait no longer. Thanks to producer Frank Marshall, we have the first image of Damon as Bourne from the set. And Damon certainly does seem to be in lithe fighting shape – leaner and meaner than in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum . There is still no proper plot synopsis for what the former government asset will be up to this time, though Damon has said it’ll reflect our financially risky times and is firmly set in a post-Edward Snowden world. Take that for what you will, but the last time we saw him, Bourne was doing some whistleblowing of his own, releasing the information about the illegal program codenamed Treadstone that created him and then going firmly off the grid. The fourth installment of The Bourne Identity franchise (and third with Paul Greengrass ) has begun casting up, and the first confirmed star beyond Matt Damon is Julia Stiles . According to Deadline she has closed a deal to reprise her role as covert agent Nicky Parsons in Universal Pictures’ Untitled Next Bourne Chapter. Stiles appeared in the first three films, emerging as an ally for the amnesiac assassin title character Jason Bourne. Let’s hope they bring back Joan Allen, who also has been a galvanizing figure in the franchise. Deadline revealed that Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander was being sought for a major role, but Stiles is the first cast member we’ve confirmed so far. Tobey Maguire Upbeat About Spider-Man 4 Tobey Maguire doesn't think "Spider-Man 4" has become a tangled mess. The 34-year-old star of the web-slinging superhero franchise said preproduction snags aren't dampening his mood about the fourth installment. The next "Spider-Man" film had been scheduled to swing into theaters May 6, 2011, but that seems unlikely now that "Thor," another big-screen Marvel superhero adaptation, has hammered out the same release date. "Like anything, it's a process," Maguire said Thursday. "We're just in the midst of the process. We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We're just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible. Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward." Spider-Man 4 Being Delayed Again UPDATE: Sony has contacted us this morning and they are denying the story. The production is on their expected holiday hiatus, but will ramp up again early next year. Yes, the filmmakers are working on the script, but there is nothing unusual about that at all, productions always are working and tweaking scripts right up until principal photography begins and that is still a few months away. Spider-Man 4 Anne Hathaway and John Malkovich To Star In Film No matter the superhero franchise, when it comes time to make a sequel, people mainly want to know one thing: Which villains will be in it? Currently, fans are trying to crack the mystery of Spider-Man 4’s bad guys; rumors and speculation had it that every actress in Hollywood was trying out for the sexy villainess Black Cat, or that Dylan Baker’s Curt Connors would finally get to transform into the Lizard in this installment.
