Of all the movies released this summer, we’re fairly certain the one no one is expecting to generate a sequel is 20th Century Fox’s latest attempt to bring the Fantastic Four to screens. But writer/producer Simon Kinberg is keeping the idea of a new film alive. “I’m really focused on the next one,” Kinberg tells MTV , while conceding that he wasn’t thrilled with the way the first one was received. “I was obviously disappointed. I was most disappointed that fans didn’t like it. I care more about them than I do anyone else. But I haven’t done a full deep dive on it. Do I think it was unfairly treated? Learn what titles Fox brought to the CinemaCon table. Story by Matt Cummings CinemaCon has quickly become an event that highlights the top upcoming films, as well as upcoming projects. On Wednesday and Thursday, we saw news from both Paramount ( Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation/TGerminator: Genisys ), as well as Sony Pictures ( The Equalizer sequel). Not to be outdone, 20th Century Fox brought out its big guns, including a Matt Damon Science-Fiction drama. Titled The Martian , it follows Damon as a stranded astronaut who tries to survive on Mars following a crash. Ridley Scott is directing the film that also stars Kate Mara and Jessica Chastain - it currently has a November 25, 2015 release date, but that could change. The CinemaCon audience, made up mostly of theater owners, loudly applauded the footage they observed, as well as Damon's appearance via satellite. The final chapter in the NYMPHOMANIAC -saga is about to unfold as NYMPHOMANIAC DIRECTOR'S CUT will finally meet its international audience at upcoming festivals, theatrical screenings and events all over the world. Tim Blake Nelson is in final negotiations to join the cast of 20th Century Fox’s reboot of The Fantastic Four . Josh Trank is directing the movie, which once again focuses on the Marvel Comics quartet of scientist-adventurers Reed Richards ( Miles Teller ), aka Mr. Fantastic; his best friend Ben Grimm ( Jamie Bell ), aka The Thing; his girlfriend Sue Storm ( Kate Mara ), aka The Invisible Woman; and her brother, Johnny ( Michael B. Jordan ), aka The Human Torch. Toby Kebbell is playing the villain, Doctor Doom. Nelson will play Harvey Elder, an eccentric and socially awkward scientist. In comics lore, Elder is actually the Mole Man , shunned by humanity and leader of a subterranean group of monsters known as the Moloids. Sources say the Mole Man will not appear in this movie but Elder’s appearance does set up the character to be the villain in future installments of the franchise. Fox did not comment on the plans. Fox has zeroed in on newcomer Toby Kebbell to play the “ Fantastic Four ” team’s arch nemesis Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom . The role was chased by several rising stars, including Jack Huston and Domhnall Gleeson, before Fox targeted the ”Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” thesp. If a deal makes, Kebbell would join Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell in the reboot that plans to shoot this spring. Fox had no comment. Based on the Marvel comic “ The Ultimate Fantastic Four ,” the contemporary update will focus on the characters as young men and women. After a final rewrite to the script and a long casting process, Fox looks to have assembled the team for its “ Fantastic Four ” reboot. Miles Teller, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell will join Michael B. Jordan in the latest installment in the comicbook franchise. Mara recently closed a deal to play play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman . While no offer is out yet, Bell is expected to be tapped to play Ben Grimm/The Thing .
