Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is scheduling special opening night events for “ Beauty and the Beast ” fans on Thursday, March 16 at approximately 590 locations nationwide. The events, which are taking place ahead of the 7:00pm showings at theaters with IMAX®, Dolby Cinema® and other select premium large formats, will give fans the opportunity to be among the first to experience the highly-anticipated live-action film and will include special behind-the-scenes on-screen content and the only opportunity for in-theatre audiences to see Ariana Grande and John Legend ’s music video for their Beauty and the Beast duet. THR is reporting that Disney is continuing its push into live-action fairy tales, closing a deal for a feature project centering on Prince Charming . Matt Fogel wrote the script, while David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films/TV as well as Tripp Vinson are on board to produce. Disney pioneered the recent and lucrative trend of taking either old animated classics or fairy tales and spinning them into live-action features. And since no other studio has done more to ensconce the idea of Prince Charming into the public mind — with movies such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella — it is most appropriate the studio take a close look at the man as well. Details are being kept behind a moat, but the script is described as a revisionist take on the fairy tales. Mandeville's Alex Young will executive produce. The Swedish actress is in talks to star in two major new tentpoles: Assassin’s Creed , the Justin Kurzel-directed New Regency live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game; and the new Jason Bourne picture opposite Matt Damon with Paul Greengrass directing. Deadline understands there’s still some work to do to get the schedules aligned but it appears likely that, whatever happens with those two projects, Vikander is likely to drop off The Circle . Word we are hearing is that the producers have made an offer to Harry Potter star Emma Watson to play the young female lead. The Circle, based on a Dave Eggers novel and written and directed by James Ponsoldt, was one of the hottest titles at the just-wrapped Cannes market. Vikander’s attachment was only announced on the eve of of the festival — to play a young employee at a tech company called The Circle, who gets involved with a mysterious man — with IM Global virtually selling out international with a slew of big indie deals.

Disney will release Beauty and the Beast in 3D on March 17, 2017. The beloved tale will be retold for the big screen with a modern live-action lens and the help of transformative CG magic. America isn’t the only country for which September 11 has painful significance. On September 11, 1973 a coup was launched against the regime of Salvador Allende by General Pinochet, plunging the country into violent upheaval that’s being depicted in Emma Watson ’s new film, Colonia .
