Brad Bird Talks Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

EW got a chance to talk to direct Brad Bird while he was promoting the release of Pixar’s The Incredibles on Blu-Ray, they took the chance to talk about his upcoming live action directorial debut Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and working with Tom Cruise .  And what might be his next film,  1906 (a disaster film about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.) How’s Mission: Impossible gone so far? It was a very challenging shoot. It’s a big film and we had to move around a lot. We were doing a lot of physical effects live — we weren’t using special effects. And so it was physically a real challenge. Did you come across situations where you wish it was an animated film? Yes and no. The wonderful thing about animation is you have absolute control over every frame. The nightmare of animation is that you have absolute control over every frame. Literally, you have to decide upon everything, and you don’t get anything for free. You can’t go to a location and simply say, “This lo

Mission : Impossible Ghost Protocol Announcement

Mission : Impossible Gets A Handle Hollywood actor Tom Cruise during a photo call at the conclusion of a press conference at the Armani Hotel. The fourth installment of the Mission Impossible film series, titled Mission : Impossible Ghost Protocol will be partly filmed in Dubai. Tom Cruise was joined by fellow actors Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton , Producer Bryan Burk, Executive Producer Jeffrey Chernov and Director Brad Bird at the press conference. Dubai: Dubai is a living film set that Tom Cruise says he’s “always wanted to film in,”  the actor announced on Thursday ahead of the start of filming for the fourth instalment of his Mission: Impossible franchise. Cruise was joined by co-stars Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton, director Brad Bird and producers Jeffrey Chernov and Bryan Burk, who took time out from the first day of shooting on Thursday to hold a press conference at the Burj Khalifa, the first of several shooting locations in and around the city of Dubai. “I would l

Paula Patton Lands Lead Female Role In Mission: Impossible 4

Paula Patton Lands Lead Female Role In Upcoming Film Paula Patton has landed that female lead role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 4 film. She was testing alongside actresses Lauren German and Kristen Kreuk . I'm told that Patton will play a young operative who works with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt character. She is mostly known for her appearances in the films Idlewild, Déjà Vu, Mirrors and Precious . Patton is married to songwriter/singer Robin Thicke. The film will not be called Mission: Impossible 4 . Cruise and JJ Abrams, who hatched the project together, always envisioned it as a franchise reboot. The film begins production in the fall with Brad Bird directing Cruise, who'll co-star with The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner in what was another hotly contested role. Paramount co-finances the $140 million film with David Ellison's Skydance banner. It marks the first film for Cruise and Paramount since he left the studio after generating over $3 billion in wo

Mission: Impossible 4 Jeremy Renner Tom Cruise

Jeremy Renner Joining Tom Cruise On A Mission Paramount Pictures won't be screen-testing any young actors to star opposite Tom Cruise after all. I've learned that the studio has just chosen Jeremy Renner to infuse new blood in its Mission: Impossible franchise. Renner is the Oscar-nominated star of The Hurt Locker and will star alongside Cruise in the fourth installment of the franchise that will begin production in the fall as a reboot. Brad Bird is directing and Cruise is producing with JJ Abrams . Paramount has struggled to find the right co-star to play the operative opposite Cruise. One factor was selecting an actor who could potentially carry the series on his own down the line, should Cruise's Ethan Hunt character not continue to be the emphasis. While Cruise is expected to return for a fifth installment, production chief Adam Goodman wanted a guy who could grow into a leading man in his own right. The studio boss was interested in actors like Tom Hardy and C

Mission Impossible 4 Pushed Back

Mission Impossible 4 Pushed Back Back in February, it was announced that Paramount will release Mission Impossible 4 starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt again, produced by J.J. Abrams, on Memorial Day 2011 but Paramount today has pushed back the release date to December 16th, 2011. Last we heard, Brad Bird (The Incredibles) was in talks to direct MI:4 but nothing is finalized or confirmed yet but I’m sure we’ll hear more soon enough. Along with that is the announcement of the release date of Super 8, the super secret project directed by J.J. Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg, will see the light of day sometime in Summer 2011. The trailer, which has caused so much curiosity over the interweb is attached to Iron Man 2 this weekend. Please Leave A Comment-
