Script by Fogelman centers on a rocker (played by Pacino) who decides to change his life after discovering a letter written to him by John Lennon — prompting him to track down his biological son, whom he’s never met. Fogelman, whose writing credits include “Tangled,” “Crazy Stupid Love” and “My Mother’s Curse,” will make his directorial debut on “Imagine.”
Caine will portray the longtime manager of Pacino’s character and Garner will play his daughter in law.
Garrrett told Variety that the project will tap into the expanding demo of aging moviegoers.
“There’s a growing older cinema audience. In countries such as Spain, with over 50% unemployment amongst 18-25 yr olds, it’s the 25-pluses who have more money to spend at the cinema,” Garrett said.
Nevertheless, “Ideally you want to have a film which crosses all quadrants, of younger, older, male, female. I hope “Imagine’s” fabulous script will appeal to the 16s and up,” he added.
