Relativity Media Snags Jim Carrey's Loomis Fargo

Relativity Media Cashes in on the Jim Carrey Action-Comedy Heist Loomis Fargo.

Studio acquires worldwide rights to finance, produce and distribute the project from the creative minds behind Napoleon Dynamite and Baby Mama.

Production targeted to start in April.

Relativity Media has acquired worldwide rights to finance, produce and distribute the action-comedy heist film currently titled Loomis Fargo starring Jim Carrey, it was announced today by Relativity. The project, directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre), based on an original screenplay by Emily Spivey (Up All Night) and written by Chris Bowman (The Wrong Brother) and Hubbel Palmer (Humble Pie), is targeted to start production in North Carolina this April.

Inspired by true events, Loomis Fargo tells the story of a disgruntled bank employee who is ready to take a chance and risk it all for love, money, and a life he’s only dreamed of. Teaming up with his work crush, they conspire to rob the financial institution. Together with their accomplices, the inexperienced criminals nab nearly $20 million - leaving a trail of evidence in their wake. Now the only thing tougher than pulling off the heist - will be getting away with it.

Carrey can be seen next in Don Scardino’s The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2.

The project will be produced by Lorne Michaels & John Goldwyn (The Guilt Trip, Baby Mama). Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder), Jody Hill (Eastbound & Down), Michael Aguilar (What Happens in Vegas) and Kevin Messick (The Other Guys) will executive produce alongside Relativity’s CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) and President, Tucker Tooley (The Fighter).

Relativity’s Brett Dahl will oversee the project for the studio.

Relativity recently acquired U.S. rights to distribute Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s daring, hotly pursued directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Up next, Relativity will release the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling Safe Haven (in theatres February 14, 2013), the comedy 21 and Over (in theatres March 1, 2013) and the corporate espionage thriller Paranoia (in theatres October 4, 2013). Relativity is currently in post-production on Scott Cooper’s gritty dramatic thriller currently-titled Out of the Furnace and Luc Besson’s comedic action film currently-titled Malavita (in theatres October 18, 2013) with EuropaCorp.

But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim
