This latest snippet is, of course, intended to demonstrate once and for all that Cruise has what it takes to embody Child’s bruiser of a vigilante. And to be honest, he pulls it off nicely, schooling the five thugs who think they’ve cornered an easy target in the art of pain.
Jack Reacher, adapted from Child’s book One Shot by writer/director Chris McQuarrie, finds the title character called in when a former military sniper stands accused of killing five people during a shooting spree.

He insists he’s innocent and demands that Reacher investigate. But when Jack peels back the layers of the case, he discovers much more danger that he initially figured, especially from mysterious crime figure The Zec, played by Werner Herzog.
With Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Robert Duvall and Jai Courtney among the cast.
