The tentatively-titled show, "Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins," is being eyed for a fall 2013 debut.

Disney XD has snagged a new animated action comedy starring the beloved arcade game character in the tentatively titled series, Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins. The series is being eyed for a fall 2013 debut on the children's cable network.

Based on the iconic brand, Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins will be executive produced by Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers) and Rick Ungar (X-Men: Evolution, Biker Mice From Mars).
Arad said in a statement: "I am very excited about producing Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins, the 3D animated series with Rick Ungar. Pac-Man is one of the world's greatest icons. He is funny and adventurous and will bring his tone and abilities to this beautifully executed animated series. For more than 30 years, Pac-Man has been a household name. Having this property on Disney XD is its rightful place to be."

Namco Bandai Games Inc., Arad Productions and 41 Entertainment LLC made the announcement early Wednesday.

Pac-Man first made its way onto the scene in 1980. An animated TV series produced by Hanna-Barbera based on the game, Pac-Man: The Animated Series, aired from 1982-83 on ABC.
