BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Goosebumps Film May Have Found It's Writer

Darren Lemke is getting Goosebumps, closing a deal to write Columbia Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of children’s horror series.

Neal Moritz and his Sony-based Original Films shingle are producing, as is Scholastic Entertainment's Deborah Forte.

Columbia picked up the rights to the more than 50 books written by R.L. Stine in May 2008. The project has seen several writers on it, as the studio tries to crack the code for the story. Columbia is starting from page one with Lemke.

The Goosebumps series is known for paying homage to classic sci-fi/horror movies such as Night of the Living Dead and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, as well as the twist endings of The Twilight Zone. Being kids books, they are also free of the usual horror tropes of blood and sex (but are spiced with laughs).

The property, with it’s all-ages supernatural trappings, seems to fall into Lempke’s wheelhouse. The scribe,  wrote the spec script for Jack the Giant Killer, which comes out later this year from New Line as a Bryan Singer-directed fantasy. He also set up a re-imagining of The Nutcracker at New Line and worked on Shrek Forever After.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim
