BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Legion Director Plans 2 Sequels

Legion Director Plans 2 Sequels

Scott Stewart, the writer and co-director of Legion, said he has plans for two more films that could be done in very different genres—if the apocalyptic film about a battle among angels does well when it opens on Jan. 22.

Stewart not only directed and co-wrote (with Peter Schink) the movie, but he also co-wrote the four-issue comic book Legion: Prophets with Tom Waltz for IDW Publishing. Characters mentioned or referred to in the movie are fleshed out in the comic book, which came out last November and is considered a prequel to the film.

"I have two other films in mind after Legion," Stewart told SCI FI Wire on Sunday at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention. "Yeah, we talked about it, and I have mapped out two other very different kinds of movies." Stewart and cast members screened footage of the film and answered questions at the convention.

"Of course, it's too early to say how if it will happen, but I want to do something different and change the genre quite a bit, like James Cameron does with his sequels," Stewart said, referring to the Terminator movies and Aliens.

Legion is an apocalyptic comic-book action horror movie dealing with the final battle between the archangels Michael and Gabriel. The movie features an ensemble cast that includes Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Dennis Quaid, Charles S. Dutton, Kevin Durand, Adrianne Palicki, Tyrese Gibson and Doug Jones.

"I can see this as a three-part story, and the next part would be a very broad kind of movie," Stewart said. "I would open up the next movie [with the Legion] characters, and make it more accessible to a bigger audience," Stewart said. "That is my goal."

The comic book expands the themes of the film, and other characters can be introduced beyond the five seemingly ordinary people who are brought together in an isolated diner in the desert of New Mexico. "I like taking very familiar suburban characters or situations and putting them in horrifying situations, like Tyrese's character, who is a dad who got lost on his way to a child-custody hearing to keep his daughter and has to make a phone call," Stewart said.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
