JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA Review. Nothing Short Of Clever

JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA Review

It’s not as hysterical as I expected it to be but JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA has its great hilarious moments and I for one who’s a big fan of JACKASS franchise, am glad to see Johnny Knoxville’s character, Irving Zisman got himself a big screen treatment. Might as well make a movie about him, I mean it’s not like Knoxville gets bombarded with other movie offers.

86 year-old Irving Zisman is on a journey across America with the most unlikely companion, his 8 year-old Grandson Billy in “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.” This October, the signature Jackass character Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville) and Billy (Jackson Nicoll) will take movie audiences along for the most insane hidden camera road trip ever captured on camera.

Along the way Irving will introduce the young and impressionable Billy to people, places and situations that give new meaning to the term childrearing. The duo will encounter male strippers, disgruntled child beauty pageant contestants (and their equally disgruntled mothers), funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons and a whole lot of unsuspecting citizens.

Real people in unreal situations, making for one really messed up comedy.

The way to describe JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA is much like Borat movie. Both are road trips, both about a character who pretends to behave like they’re oblivious or naive and they speak their minds without filter or discretion. The difference is in the mission. Borat was out to reach Pamela Anderson, whereas Irving wants to reach his good-for-nothing son in law, so that he wouldn’t have to continue taking care of his grandson.

Just like any JACKASS presentation, BAD GRANDPA too have a series of its own candid camera pranks that aims to offend the marked targets in order to get us audience laughing our asses off and for the most part, it works wonders. Much of it also thanks to little kid Billy (Jackson Nicoll) who’s got balls the size of Texas, willing to say the darndest things to strangers.

It’s no surprise that Oscar nominated Spike Jonze (Where The Wild Things Are) is once again credited to and associated with this latest installment, Jonze has a long history with the JACKASS boys and their movies. So I’d like to believe that Jonze has an impactful contribution to how the relationship between Irving and his grandson Billy develop and progress throughout this movie.

There are times when the pranks just don’t work and I think it’s partly because after a while, Irvin’s constant openly need for sex just gets old as he is. You can only take so much juvenile flirtations and pick up lines. I gotta hand it to Johnny Knoxville tho, for a man who’s done these kinds of dangerous stunts and pranks for years, even to the point of almost getting arrested or people almost beating him up, the man just keeps keeping on. He has made this some kind of his own work of art.

I wouldn’t call JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA as a movie that will get you rolling on the floor, the humor is not entirely consistent,.. but if you’re patient enough to sit through til the final scene/prank involving a kid pageant (a scene that’s reminiscent to Little Miss Sunshine), you’ll find JACKASS PRESENT: BAD GRANDPA nothing short of clever.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
