BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Fall 2015 Television Preview: The CW

We continue our look at the upcoming Fall television season by focusing on The CW's offerings.

Story by Sue Lukenbaugh

Like the other big networks, the CW cancelled a couple shows, and announced a few upcoming shows. Getting the ax was Heart Of Dixie and The Messengers. The CW expands their Superhero roster, can they just transition to being all superheroes all the time? Only one of their upcoming shows will show up during the fall, the other two will debut early 2016.

Containment – Release Date TBD
Plot: When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives. Julie Plec, the creator of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals brings you Containment, coming soon to The CW.

My Verdict: This is very different from anything else on the CW. As an outbreak show, it doesn't have much longevity in it, but I can see it being something like a pre-Walking Dead and lasting a long time. It'll be a good first season, and Julie Plec knows how to stretch a story but it has to be about more than just a virus killing the populace.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – MONDAYS 8|7c THIS FALL
Plot: Rachel Bloom is Rebecca Bunch, a successful driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything, her job at a law firm and her life in New York, in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness...in suburban West Covina, CA. It follows her elusive pursuit of her long time soul mate Josh, who dumped her while they were dating in high school in 2005. It's now 2015 and after being inspired by a TV commercial for a butter spread, she restarts her pursuit of Josh after she spots him in New York City. When he tells her that he is moving to West Covina, California ("Just two hours from the beach, four hours in traffic"), Rebecca decides to move there as well, hoping that it will give her a fresh start and hopefully bring her closer to the still-elusive Josh.

My Verdict: Just kill me know. While the musical aspect completely worked for Galavant, here it lost its charm before the trailer was even over. Someone shoot me now, just watching the trailer was excruiating. Jane the Virgin was a smash hit last season, but that was a show with so much heart and great acting. This doesn't look like it can boast about either of those factors.

Legends of Tomorrow – Release Date TBD
Plot: Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter must assemble a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat to the planet...and to time itself. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is coming soon to The CW

My Verdict: So much yes. The CW really knows what they're doing with their DC shows. Arrow has been good, but what they've done with the Flash this first season has be phenomenal. If Legends of Tomorrow is in the same league as its predecessors, then it'll be a hit as well. Of the shows coming to the CW, the only one that makes it on my viewing schedule is Legends of Tomorrow.

Look for our article on The Fox's offerings on Thursday!

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
