Sigourney Weaver To Play The Villian In @netflix Defenders

Marvel's TV side had a lot of news to announce at this weekend's New York Comic-Con. Along with a new teaser trailer for Iron Fist came the revelation that all four DefendersMatt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand – will be facing off against a baddie played by Sigourney Weaver.

No details were released as to what character Weaver will be playing, or how her nefarious plans will roll out, but it's certainly an exciting piece of casting. “Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever!,” said Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. “She is by definition a class act.”

With Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and more recent recruit Finn Jones preparing to shoot the Defenders miniseries that will unite their characters, the team-up should be on Netflix next year, though there was no announcement was made at the con. As for Iron Fist, that will arrive on 17 March.
