#TheJungleBook PAST $700M WORLDWIDE

With $255.8M domestically and $452.8M internationally, Disney’s The Jungle Book roared past the $700M mark at the global box office on Monday, May 2, for a global total of $708.6M. The Jungle Book is currently the #4 film of the year domestically, internationally, and globally and joins Zootopia to become Disney’s second 2016 release to cross the $700M threshold.

Having surpassed the $600M mark on April 29, The Jungle Book added more than $100M to its global total last weekend thanks to outstanding holds in the U.S. and internationally. Domestically, it has remained the #1 film every day of its run and, in its third consecutive #1 weekend (April 29-May 1), posted the sixth-best third weekend of all time with $43.7M. It debuted April 15 with $103.3M, holding in its second weekend with $61.5M.

In China, the film has brought in $138.8M to become Disney’s third biggest release in the country, while in India, it is already the highest-grossing Hollywood release of all time with $34.4M. Other top markets include the U.K. ($48M), Mexico ($19.9M) and France ($19.4M). The film opens in Korea on June 9 and in Japan on August 11.

Directed by Jon Favreau and featuring newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli surrounded by an all-star voice cast including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, and Christopher Walken, The Jungle Book enjoys a stellar 94% Certified Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and an A CinemaScore.
