A+E NETWORKS® EXPANDS TV EVERYWHERE OFFERINGS WITH ANDROID APPS

A&E, HISTORY AND LIFETIME ANDROID APPS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FOR FREE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 18

FREE VIDEO APPS GIVE VIEWERS ACCESS TO THE NETWORKS’ COMPREHENSIVE LIBRARIES OF ORIGINAL CONTENT

A+E Networks™ continues to expand its leadership position as one of the first to market TV Everywhere apps with the launch of Android™ apps today. A&E®, HISTORY® and Lifetime® network apps are available on Android’s latest operating systems for free from Google Play™.

Since the inaugural kick-off of apps in December with the iPad® and February with the iPhone®, the network has seen over 5 million downloads of the watch apps to date, with those apps accounting for one third of all video viewing in April. The apps have garnered three times the visits per unique visitor compared to the companion online sites, helping propel A+E Networks to its best four months ever in network video views, and up 60 percent in year-over-year growth for the first four months of the year.

“With the addition of our new Android apps, A+E Networks strengthens our leadership position in the rollout of TV Everywhere,” said Dan Suratt, Executive Vice President of Digital Media and Business Development, A+E Networks. “We are committed to making our top-rated original content available to our consumers where they want to view it, and to that end, we will be rolling out our apps on even more platforms in the coming months.”

The apps enable users to watch full episodes, full movies and exclusive clips of their favorite A+E Networks programming, including Storage Wars® and Duck Dynasty® on A&E; Pawn Stars® and Swamp People® on HISTORY; and Army Wives® and Dance Moms® on Lifetime. Users who sign in to verify Xfinity TV from Comcast, DirecTV and other providers as authentication partners will have access to even more content, including full previous seasons of some of their favorite series.

The apps feature extensive video offerings. Users who start watching a video and have to step away can pause mid-stream and resume where they left off, thanks to Watchlist functionality. Users can also participate in social sharing where they can post to Twitter®, Facebook® or emails with a direct link.

The free A&E, HISTORY and Lifetime apps are available for download on Google Play™.

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
