Shia LaBeouf stars alongside returning cast members Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel, and franchise newcomers Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Patrick Dempsey.
Insiders say the plan was always to move the film from the Friday slot to a Wednesday opening.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the first film in the series to be shot in 3D, which director Michael Bay says was "fun" to work with but "not easy."

Bay unveiled 20 minutes of the action sequel Wednesday evening at a "3D: A Transforming Visual Art" event co-hosted by Paramount and The Hollywood Reporter. THR's Borys Kit called the footage "impressive," saying the film's prologue immediately sucks viewers in "with a big rush coming from the 3D."
Bay decided to make Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D at the urging of James Cameron. Most of the film was shot using Cameron-Pace Group’s 3D Fusion camera rigs, and Bay also worked with Avatar crew members.
When a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, with John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.
TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, is directed by Michael Bay, written by Ehren Kruger and produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce.
