BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

John Cusack Joins The Cell

As the nights draw in and the creepiness levels rise, John Cusack’s mind is turning to horror. Just yesterday, word arrived that he was planning to star in scare-fest Due Process. Now he’s also going back into Stephen King territory for an adaptation of Cell.

The book, which hit shelves in 2006, finds struggling graphic novel artist Clayton Riddell searching for his missing wife and son after a mysterious pulse from every mobile phone starts turning people into zombie-like psychopaths.

King is on screenwriting duty for this one, working alongside The Last House On The Left’s Adam Alleca. There’s no director attached yet, but we expect one to be locked in soon enough.

This is not the first time someone has tried to bring the novel to the screen: Eli Roth jumped on the idea when it was first published, but ditched it to focus on his own original material. Then writer John Harrison began to develop it for TV. Now, however, it will be back in movie form.

Cusack previously stalked into King’s world for 1408, and Cell finds him reunited with that film’s producer, Richard Saperstein. “I’m thrilled to be working with Stephen and John again,” Saperstein tells Screen Daily. “Cell is an intelligent psychological thriller that delivers on both a visceral and emotional level.”

Talking of terror, Cusack will be playing a killer in The Frozen Ground, which is due out next year. And, even scarier, he’s Richard Nixon in Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
