BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Ben Stiller Is All Talk On HBO

It’s clearly the day that HBO has decided is most auspicious for announcing new comedy pilots. Hot on the heels of news about Paul Feig directing Goldie Hawn in The Viagra Diaries comes word that Ben Stiller has jumped aboard to star, direct, executive produce and run the electrical department* for All Talk.

Novelist Jonathan Safran Foer cooked up the concept and has written the script for the pilot, which will follow the daily dramas of a Jewish family in Washington, DC. Foer, whose book Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close is currently on screen in the US with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock starring, has labelled the show “politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent.”

To add that little bit of extra class, Stiller’s Tower Heist co-star Alan Alda (already a telly legend thanks to the likes of M*A*S*H, ER and The West Wing) is in talks to co-star. And working behind the scenes will be Social Network producer and regular Stiller collaborator Scott Rudin.

According to Deadline, the pilot is currently pencilling in a late 2012 shoot, which presumably will allow Stiller to work on new film projects such as The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty and Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young. He also just finished shooting action comedy Neighbourhood Watch, a moment that Jonah Hill marked on Twitter with a new pic of the main cast.

Though big film names have always been drawn HBO, we wonder how many episodes the ever-busy Stiller would shoot if the series gets picked up. Still, with shorter seasons than on network TV, there’s always the chance he’ll be able to juggle both.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...
