Kick-Ass 2 Comic & Film News

Kick-Ass 2 Comic & Film On It's Way If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the sequel to Mark Millar ’s hit comic book series “Kick-Ass,” this is your lucky day... and week, for that matter. Why? Because we have an exclusive sneak peek at "Kick-Ass 2" (the comic), courtesy of Millar's new monthly magazine debuting this week, “ CLiNT .” “ Kick-Ass 2 ” follows immediately after ‘ Kick-Ass ,’”  “You see how Dave has inspired people to become amateur superheroes, Red Mist has inspired people in the sequel to become amateur supervillains. So what we have is two rival gangs of super characters getting together in New York.” And what about the sequel to the mega-successful film adaptation of the comic starring Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz ? To paraphrase the Red Mist, wait 'til they get a load of this! “We go straight into what’s happened with Dave and Hit-Girl as well, picking up from where they left off in the last story. Hit-Girl

"Kick-Ass" Kicks Ass - A Review by Windy

"Kick-Ass" Kicks Ass Review by Windy Windy reviews “Kick-Ass”.  Take a swing by her website and check out what she’s been up to lately. “Kick-Ass” Kicks Ass “Kick-Ass”, directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Aaron Johnson (“Kick-Ass”), Chloe Moretz (“Hit-Girl”), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Red Mist”), Nicholas Cage (“Big Daddy”) and Mark Strong (Frank D’Amico), truly does kick ass. “Kick-Ass” has a somewhat similar formula to films such as “Date Movie”, “Epic Movie” and “Dance Movie”, but follows a story of its own with a distinct plot and is more successful at engaging the audience.  There are plenty of odes to other superhero movies including “Superman” (soundtrack), “Spiderman” (dialogue), “Batman” (costume) and “The Matrix” (action sequences).  There are even some similarities to “Superbad”, aside from having Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the film.  However, “Kick-Ass” succeeds where the other formula movies fail. Aaron Johnson stars as the typical high school nobody

Kick-Ass Spoilers And Some Secrets About The Film

Kick-Ass Spoilers And Some Secrets About The Film I have been so excited about the upcoming film Kick-Ass since hearing about it at Comic-Con. The film premiered at Austin's South by Southwest film festival. To watch the trailer for the film click Here . Director Matthew Vaughn; Mark Millar, writer of the Kick-Ass comic book and screenplay; and stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse spoke to fans at a panel on March 13, and to a group of reporters at a press conference that afternoon. Here are some secrets, easter eggs and spoilers to keep you excited until the film's April 16 release. Kick-Ass is the ultimate fighting championship In the world of Kick-Ass, teenager Dave Lizewski (Johnson) puts on a costume to become crime fighter Kick-Ass. His actions inspire other vigilantes such as Damon (Nicolas Cage) and Mindy Macready (Moretz) to follow suit (pun intended). Every single action scene is different. "Aaron had a different fighting style to Chloe

Kick-Ass 2 Review. How Does The Film Fare Against More Polished Superhero Flicks

Kick-Ass 2 Review By: MattInRC The wild Kick-Ass 2 delivers all the fun and gore of the first, even if it betrays some of its morals. Comic book movies have followed a parallel path with the Sci-Fi & Action genres ever since Bryan Singer's X-Men : due to the nature of the characters, it's perfectly acceptable to display implausible violence. Whether it's watching an entire city leveled or some fantastic move by a superhuman or mutant, we've been willing to play along. But when a comic book film proposes that it's better than that - and then proceeds to display the same sort of images - casual fans might have a hard time distinguishing between it and the litany of films which occupy Summer theaters. This is where Kick-Ass 2 finds itself, a totally enjoyable experience even if it's exactly opposite of what it wants to be. The world of real-life crime fighting has weighed heavily on our titular hero ( Aaron Taylor-Johnson ) and Hit Girl (

First Look At The "Kick-Ass" Posters

First Look At The "Kick-Ass" Posters Thanks to IGN for these Premiere "Kick-Ass" Posters. The plot of Kick-Ass concerns a lonely teenage boy called Dave Lizewski ( Aaron Johnson ), who decides to become a real-life superhero after being inspired by the heroes of comic-books. He soon encounters a mysterious vigilante called Big-Daddy (Nicolas Cage), and his daughter Hit Girl ( Chloë Moretz ), who are working to bring down the drug baron, Frank D'Amico( Mark Strong ). Dave Lizewski doesn't have superpowers, isn't particularly strong or smart, and isn't extraordinary in any way… aside from his desire to be a hero. Donning a scuba suit, a ski mask, and a pair of clubs, Dave hits the underworld hard in his new persona of Kick-Ass. Though not as hard -- at first anyway -- as they hit him when he's severely beaten and hospitalized as a result of his first street fight. No one said being a hero was going to be easy… Hit-Girl is just your ordinary, run-o

Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall Plot Details

Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall Plot Details Kick-Ass is set to hit DVD and Blu-ray on August 3rd.  Mark Millar stopped by movieweb for a chat. While discussing the film, he told us in detail where Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is headed. Spoiler Alert: Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall begins with Hit Girl living with her newly adoptive father, who used to be Big Daddy's ex-partner on the police force. She has retired her guns and is no longer killing people. Meanwhile, Red Mist has hired a Russian Assassin to murder Hit Girl, while also assembling a group of super villains on-line who decide to hunt Kick-Ass down in a storyline that is similar to the one seen in The Warriors, which climaxes with a huge rumble in Times Square, where costumed heroes battle costumed villains to the death. Here is our conversation: There has been a lot of talk about Kick-Ass 2 . What is happening with that? And where would you like to see it go? Mark Millar: I am writing the comic book right now

Mark Millar Talks Kick-Ass 2 And Red Mist

Mark Millar Talks Kick-Ass 2 And Red Mist The writer discusses the future of Kick-Ass and Red Mist in the comic book and potential movie sequel... WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! In the new 'Kick-Ass: Creating the Comic, Making the Movie' movie companion let it out a huge tidbit slip when he talked about the direction of the characters of the upcoming Kick-Ass film will take in the comic books and upcoming sequel "One of my favorite ideas in superhero comics is the exposure of the secret identity... I like the idea of doing that to somebody like Kick-Ass, who's going to have real-world ramifications if his secret identity gets exposed. I wanted that in the first volume but there was just no room, so I shifted it all into the second volume." In the book, the comic book writer also hints at the future for Kick-Ass's friend-turned-foe, Red Mist: "Red Mist surviving, becoming the super-villain was always planned, but the idea was that he was going to be a more m

Kick-Ass Movie Review By: Sandwichjohn

Kick-Ass Movie Review By: Sandwichjohn Sorry Late but you know the real world doesn't always leave a lot of time for sitting down to write a review. Kick Ass unfortunately didn't kick ass in the box office but we here at Sandwichjohnfilms definitely thought it kicked bottom, as my 4 year old says. We were very excited for this movie every since we show the first clips which were released, then more so after watching the panel at WonderCon and we were not disappointed. Kick Ass stars Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski, an average high school kid that decides to become a super hero. He hits a few road blocks along the way but becomes a You Tube hit as the super hero Kick Ass. Kick Ass also stars Nicholas Cage as Damon Macready, a former cop who was framed by the local crime boss Frank D'Amico and spent time in prison. Upon his release he trains his 11 year daughter Mindy (Chloë Moretz) to help him fight crime in his quest to bring down D'Amico. Together they form the

Mark Millar Confirms Kick-Ass 2 & American Jesus

The sequel to the critically acclaimed comic book drama Kick-Ass will be shot this summer, writer Mark Millar has revealed. Millar, who penned the comic books from which Kick-Ass and its sequel are adapted, has told the Daily Record that both the second Kick Ass film and his new project American Jesus will be shot this summer, telling the paper: "We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer". There had been some doubt as to whether a second Kick-Ass film would happen at all after both writer Jane Goldman and director Matthew Vaughn ruled themselves out of the project. However, it appears a new writer and director have been found for the project. Millar also spoke about his new project American Jesus, which he has described as "the reverse of the Omen". That will also be shot this summer. Millar said of this: "It is the reverse of the Omen, which is about a kid who finds out he is the anti-Christ. This is a kid who finds out he is Jesus Chr

Big Daddy Kicks-Ass In This Trailer And Wonder Con Exclusive

Big Daddy Kicks-Ass In This Trailer And Wonder Con Exclusive Man I can not stop watching this trailer, I thought to myself for a minute.  Who in the heck needs Batman when you have Big Daddy. Big Daddy is the center of this clip, showing what a bad ass he is and how he completely destroys the whole warehouse without a blink of an eye. Big Daddy, a former cop who, in his quest to bring down an evil druglord Frank D'Amico played by Mark Strong, has trained his eleven-year-old daughter to be the ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl. But the con-exclusive poster for Big Daddy, with its slogan of "He's Watching You," is pretty creepy, and calls out for a "Ceiling Cat"-style meme. Yeah, that's right, Nicolas Cage is watching you, um, doing whatever you're doing. And he'll be available to sign the poster on Saturday. Another thing if you are making your way out to Wonder Con this weekend make sure to come and join me at 4:30 for the Kick-Ass panel i

Red Mist From Kick-Ass In A New Poster

Red Mist From Kick-Ass In A New Poster Our good chums over at AICN have bagged a looksee at the magnificent teaser poster for one of the major characters from Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s Red Mist, and we readily recommend you start drooling now. Frankly, we love everything about this: the ballsy tagline (“I can’t read your mind, but I can kick your ass”), the graffiti on the road, the stonking Mistmobile, a car so sexy it would turn Jeremy Clarkson’s pants to smoke, and then Mintz-Plasse himself as Red Mist, a character who teams up with Aaron Johnson’s Kick-Ass for… reasons best left unspoiled for now. The only thing we might have slight pause with is that the badass photography and Red Mist’s heroic stance means that we don’t get a sense that Red Mist is, in essence, just playing at being a hero and couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag. But all in good time… Having said that, virtually everything we’ve seen from Vaughn’s superhero actioner has made

Kick-Ass Slays The "Dragon"

Kick-Ass Slays The "Dragon" As of Sunday night I was pretty nervous that Kick-Ass lost the number one spot to "How to Train Your Dragon".  It looks like it was a close race but Kick-Ass ended up on top.  Not taking anything away from Dragon, which was a great film. If you haven't seen the movie you need to make a trip out to the theaters and spread the word. I am really hoping that word of mouth about this film will give this movie legs with all the new films coming out. Despite preliminary reports, "Kick-Ass" took home the top spot at the domestic box office. Grossing $19.8 million, Lionsgate's superhero action pic edged DreamWorks Animation's 3D kid pic, "How to Train Your Dragon" ($19.6 million) in a closely contested race. Kick-Ass 2 "Balls To The Wall" In 2012?

Kick-Ass 2 "Balls To The Wall" In 2012? Looks like me might be getting a sequel to Kick-Ass. After a very disappointing performance at the box office so far. ($40 Million so far and the film cost 30 million to make) Has the movie warranted a sequel? I say HELL yes! Mark talked to Forces of Geek in which he was promoting his new UK Geek Magazine CLiNT. Here is a little description he gives on the magazine: I’ve worked on everything from Spider-Man comics to the Iron Man movie for Marvel in New York, but what really excites me is the gap I see in the UK market at the moment. There are absolutely no comic-books aimed at 16-30 year old guys and I think CLiNT has potential to make an enormous impact, bringing a new type of magazine to a new generation. I want this to be edgy and irreverent, the kind of thing guys will be passing around lunch-halls and common rooms, and there’s nobody I’d rather have creating new characters for CLiNT than Jonathan and Frankie. They’re both
