Netflix’s upcoming release of EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE starring Zac Efron as serial killer Ted Bundy, will make its Arizona premiere as the opening night film of the 2019 Phoenix Film Festival. In addition, Academy Award - nominated director Joe Berlinger (PARADISE LOST, METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER) will be in attendance to showcase the forthcoming feature he directed.

EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE is a chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy from the perspective of Liz, his longtime girlfriend, who refused to belief the truth about him for years.

Before the showing of the film, be sure not to miss the annual Phoenix Film Festival Opening Night kickoff party! Food and festivities will be held in the Party Pavilion with tastes from some of the best restaurants in town including: The Capital Grille, Paul Martin's American Grill, The Dhaba, Braut Haus, Cien Agaves, Nothing Bundt Cakes, The Melting Pot and more to be announced! Guests can also enjoy live music, in addition to a silent auction where they can bid on exclusive items.

After the cocktail party, guests will be escorted from the Party Pavilion to the Harkins Cine Capri Theatre for the conclusion of the night’s events. Rick McCartney, President & CEO of InMedia Company and long-time supporter of the Phoenix Film Foundation and Phoenix Film Festival will be celebrated and honored with the festival’s Visionary Award.

The Visionary Award ceremony will be followed by the Arizona premiere screening of Netflix’s EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The 19th Annual Phoenix Film Festival will take place from Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 14. Continually breaking attendance records since its inception, last year’s festival saw over 28,000 attendees and there are hopes to pull in even more film enthusiasts this year. The eleven day Festival will once again be held at Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theatre located at 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85054.

A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack.
