Movie Review: Unfriended: Dark Web 'Predictable and generic'

#GREENROOMRADIO Launched Today By @A24

We haven't had a chance yet to screen Green Room starring Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, and Alia Shawkat. But  A24 LAUNCHED A NEW ONLINE PUNK ROCK RADIO SHOW, GREEN ROOM RADIO, HOSTED BY HARDCORE SCHOLAR TONY RETTMAN.

First Episode of Weekly Radio Show Kicks Off the Series With Ted Leo Interview At GreenRoom-Radio.com

Today, Oscar award-winning film studio A24 launches Green Room Radio (GRR!), a new, online punk rock radio show featuring a unique programming format of intimate interviews, anecdotes, and a rotating playlist of hardcore punk, on GreenRoom-Radio.com. Hosted by Tony Rettman, author of NYHC: New York Hardcore 1980 – 1990, the weekly series launches its first episode with Ted Leo of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, speaking about terrible gigs, his entrance into the hardcore scene, and a new Ted Leo and the Pharmacists album, plus music from Born Against, Straight Ahead and SS Decontrol. New episodes of Green Room Radio will stream live every Wednesday at 12 p.m. EST (9 a.m. PST) on GreenRoom-Radio.com, with Episode 1 available now. Following the broadcast, each episode will be distributed to iTunes, Mixcloud and Soundcloud.

Launching in anticipation of the upcoming film Green Room — a crime horror-thriller centered around an unsuspecting young punk band starring Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, and Alia Shawkat – Green Room Radio will cover the good, the bad, and the crazy moments of this subculture, bringing hardcore to a broader audience, and educating the public on the movement's history, influence, and characters. Each episode will feature one-on-one interviews with an assortment of hardcore punk legends, as well as the next generation of musicians inspired by the genre, with future guests including Ned Russin from Title Fight and Richie Birkenhead from Underdog, Black Flag co-founder and OFF! frontman Keith Morris, Roger Mirret from Agnostic Front, plus the filmmaker and cast of Green Room.

In addition to serving as a hub for Green Room Radio broadcasts, GreenRoom-Radio.com will provide exclusive editorial content from notable journalists and industry insiders such as Steven Blush, author of American Hardcore: A Tribal History, Bryan Ray Turcotte, author of Fucked Up + Photocopied, Anthony Pappalardo, author of Radio Silence: A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore, and more.

About Green Room
Coming to theatres April 15 (NY & LA), April 22 (expansion), April 29 (nationwide), Green Room is a brilliantly crafted and wickedly fun horror-thriller written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier and starring Patrick Stewart as a diabolical club owner who squares off against an unsuspecting but resilient young punk band. Down on their luck punk rockers The Ain’t Rights are finishing up a long and unsuccessful tour, and are about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the backwoods of Oregon. What seems merely to be a third-rate gig escalates into something much more sinister when they witness an act of violence backstage that they weren’t meant to see. Now trapped backstage, they must face off against the club’s depraved owner, Darcy Banker (Stewart), a man who will do anything to protect the secrets of his nefarious enterprise.

Movie Review: #MissSloane

The political drama Miss Sloane fails to lobby us into Oscar territory.
Review by Matt Cummings
In a time when women were supposed to be leading our country, Miss Sloane arrives to remind us of what could have been. Unfortunately, this message about a headstrong female Washington lobbyist loses us early with an unappealing director, a paper-thin plot, and suffers from a ton of convenient realism. If the good (but not impressive) performances weren't there to buffer these and many other gaps, we might have found ourselves voting for impeachment.

For Washington lobbyist Elizabeth Sloane (Jessica Chastain), life is about getting her clients what they want from the halls of Congress. Her boss Dupont (Sam Waterston) will sleep with NRA types, fudge travel records, and bully smaller firms into submission if it means a hearty paycheck at day's end. But when Sloane leaves the company to push Gun Control legislation with one of those smaller firms, Dupont turns to his bulldog Co…
