Michelle Rodriguez To Star In Tomboy

THR is reporting Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez will go under the knife for Tomboy, A Revenger's Tale, the gender-swapping action movie to be directed by Walter Hill.

Sigourney Weaver is already on board to also star in the project, being produced by Said Ben Said (Map to the Stars) and Michel Merkt of SBS.

The script, written by Hill from a story by Denis Hamill, centers on an ace assassin who is double-crossed by gangsters and falls into the hands of rogue surgeon known as "The Doctor," who turns him into a woman. The hitman (now a hitwoman) sets out for revenge, aided by a nurse named Johnnie, who also has secrets.

Rodriguez is to play the hitman while Weaver is the scalpel-wielding doctor when the cameras roll Nov. 9 in Vancouver.

The project initially made the rounds at TIFF and had Frieda Pinto involved. Pinto is no longer involved.

The Solution Entertainment Group, co-founded by Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel, is handling international sales on the project which will see at the American Film Market. ICM is representing North American rights.

Tomboy will mark the first movie Rodriguez has toplined in quite a while. The actress is known for her work within large casts, mostly in the action and sci-fi sphere with the Fast franchise, the Resident Evil movie series, the Machete flicks and Avatar.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack.
