BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

UPDATE: Roberto Orci Leaves Star Trek 3

Read on to learn who might replace Roberto Orci as director of Star Trek 3.

Regardless if you're a long-time Trekker (that's what we call ourselves) or someone who just enjoyed Director JJ Abrams' rebooted series, Star Trek has proven to be a money-making hit as well as a critical success. Perhaps the main reason for that was Abrams himself, who stood the frankly tired franchise on its ear by beaming its characters into an alternate timeline. Add to that a rich history of characters, including the conflicted Vulcan Mr. Spock and the bold adventurer Captain James T. Kirk, and you had a winning formula for success.

But with Abrams now attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and having released a pretty awesome teaser trailer the week of Thanksgiving - it's clear that his somoene needed to pick up the car keys to drive Star Trek forward. That person was set to be Writer Roberto Orci, best known for his screenwriting work with former partner Alex Kurtzman. Orci was to make his directorial debut with the movie.

But, life has a funny way of taking things from you, and with the announcement on Friday that Orci was leaving the helmer chair, it's thrown this up-and-coming franchise into a bit of tailspin.

The reason? Filming was set to begin in Spring 2015, which doesn't give Paramount Studios a lot of time to find a replacement. Compounding the problem is the reality that the rollercoaster has pretty much left the building, and anyone they get needs to strap in and simply hold on. So who would be so crazy to take on something which is in many ways done? How about someone without a job.

Deadline is reporting that former Ant-Man Director Edgar Wright is on the shortlist. As you might remember, Wright departed the Marvel movie just months before filming was to begin, giving Marvel a surprising black eye. His availability, while unfortunate due to his long-time love affair with Ant-Man, could be to Trek's benefit. Wright has demonstrated that he gets characters, as evidenced in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but he's also directed fairly big action pieces in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. Don't get us wrong: none of those hold a candle to the effects work in Trek, but his ability to succeed at both parts is a necessary skill for a series of this importance.

As for Orci, he will still remain involved with Trek 3 as a Producer, THR has confirmed. Whether he will come out to explain his departure any time soon is your guess, but Wright's possible signing interest or worry you?

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...
