BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

The Equalizer Movie - What We Know (Part 2)

Our Equalizer introduction continues with a look at various members of Robert McCall's team. As audiences prepare to see Director Antoine Fuqua's vision for the 1980's iconic television series The Equalizer, all this week we'll be taking a look back at the characters, episodes, and other aspects of the show that helped to define it.

We'll continue with a discussion of McCall's television allies, and how some could fit into the film's storyline.

Mickey Kostmayer
Kostmayer is McCall's right-hand man, responsible for running surveillance and brought the heavy weapons when needed. Kostmayer was nearly fired from The Company for his impetuousness before McCall molded him into a lethal asset. His work with McCall was always under the scrutiny of Control, who worried about using Company assets on 'small jobs.' But as we'll see, Control and McCall battled over just about everything. Adding Mickey to the mix would be like McCall calling in an old favor, but from what we can glean from the trailer, it doesn't appear that Denzel's version needs him. As of current, there is no mention of Kostmayer in the film credits, and we haven't heard whether Actor Keith Szarabajka will make a cameo.

Jimmy
One of the Company's 'dirty' assets, Jimmy ran intelligence for McCall on selected missions. Recently divorced and needing cash, McCall employed him regularly to get into Company files without their knowledge. Jimmy was a bit of a slimeball, but showed that McCall was ready to use any asset he had to gain the upperhand. Jimmy was played by the terrific actor Mark Margolis. There's always a need for a slimeball to keep your hands clean, and perhaps Denzel will bring along an asset like this to give him information on the Russian mob he's apparently dealing with. As of current, there is no mention of Jimmy in the credits, and we haven't heard whether Margolis will make a cameo.

Scott McCall
The son of Robert, Scott is impetuous and harbors resentment towards his father for being away so often on Company jobs. As a result, Scott dropped in and out of music school to return to New York, prompting Robert to question whether his career was worth losing his son. When McCall disappeared in Mission: McCall Scott enlisted the services of Kostmayer and even Control to find him. We hope that the movie version will tell us a deeper story than the violent one told in the trailers. Adding Scott would be a perfect way to show how McCall is trying to deal with certain elements of his past. William Zabka played Scott, but his character is not listed in the movie credits.

Control
The deadliest special agent in The Company next to McCall, Control is the leader of various branches within the agency, and was McCall's lead when he was employed. Control's real name is never released, a fact so appropriate to his character. Regardless, it's clear that the duo worked on many missions together and grew to understand - if not respect - one another. Control is Machiavellian in his goals, utilizing every asset to get the job done. Sadly, his actions frequently lead to the death of others, including those which Robert has promised to protect. This gray line becomes the subject of much angst between them, leading Robert many times to clean up Control's mess without realizing he's still doing the dirty work. The best episodes of the series usually featured Control in some form, and was played by Robert Lansing.

Harley Gage
A friend of McCall's from his Company days, Harley was disgraced and drummed out of The Company. As he recovers from an accident during a job, McCall smooths over Harley's rough edges, utiliizing him during various episodes in Season 3. Gage has a problem with Control, and their banter is closely monitored by the fatherly McCall. Harley was played by veteran actor Richard Jordan.

Next up, we'll delve into the 'tools of the trade' behind McCall's secret life.

The Equalizer movie blasts its way into theaters on September 26th.

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
