BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Ian McKellen To Play Sherlock Holmes

The Oscar-winning writer and director collaborated with the actor on "Gods And Monsters" before later working on the last two "Twilight" films.

The film details the story of a long-retired Sherlock Holmes haunted by an unsolved case from fifty years ago. He remembers only fragments: a confrontation with an angry husband, a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife. With his legendary mental powers on the wane, and without his old sidekick Watson, Holmes is faced with the toughest case of his life.

Based on a novel of the same name by Mitch Cullin, the screenplay is being adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess).

AI Film, the production arm of the Icon U.K. Group owned by Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries, has boarded the project and will finance and co-produce.

Set to shoot April 2014 in the U.K., the film will be produced by Anne Carey, of Anton Corbijn’s The American, through her new venture Archer Gray Productions.

Producers of the Oscar-winner The King’s Speech, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman of See-Saw Films, along with Icon/AI Film CEO Aviv Giladi and Len Blavatnik, will exec produce.

Christine Langan, head of BBC Films, is an exec producer for the public broadcaster's standalone movie-making unit, which is also co-financing.

Condon and McKellen previously worked together on the Academy Award-winning Gods and Monsters, which Condon wrote and directed, and which won the best screenplay nod.

Condon is in Toronto for the world premiere of his latest film The Fifth Estate about the rise and fall of Wikileaks and its founder Julian Assange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Carey said: "Mitch Cullin's elegiac novel is not so much about solving a mystery, as it is about accepting life's mysteries. I could not be more excited about the talent who have come together to make this film a reality."
Giladi described Condon and McKellen as " a perfect match for this clever and intriguing project.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
