It’s Yabba Dabba Doo time again. Warner Bros. is hoping to bring The Flintstones back to the big-screen, this time as a full-length animated feature. Chris Henchy -- who is partners with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay in Gary Sanchez Productions and who also co-wrote the script for Warners' Ferrell-Zack Galifianakis comedy The Campaign -- is penning the script. Ferrell and McKay will executive produce Flintstones, which is in development stages. Flintstones was The Simpsons of its day, a primetime cartoon and sitcom that ran from 1960 to 1966 and then entertained millions in the ensuing decades when it aired on syndication. The show was set in the Stone Age and told of the antics of Fred Flintstone, his wife Wilma, his best friend Barney Rubble and Rubble’s wife and Wilma’s best friend, Betty. Mark Gordon is producing the movie, which would seem to be a natural fit for Wilson's comedic sensibility. New Line is currently seeking a director for the modern day update. TV Review: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Ragtag” By: Brandon Wolfe Agent Ward is boring. This is one of the immutable truths of the universe. The character is such a black hole that he manages to stand out as bland on a series populated entirely with flavorless ciphers. He is a perfect storm of dull, the yawn-generating point of intersection between generic actor, stock character and bad writing. Even going as far as to make him a surprise villain hasn’t managed to successfully nudge him into the realm of interesting. At best, it merely thrust an interesting development into his orbit. If ever a television character could be chalked up as a lost cause, too hopelessly humdrum to continue to bother with, it has to be him. Unfortunately, boring is where ‘ Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D .’ hangs its hat, and so it sets up “Ragtag” as a means of finding out just what makes Agent Ward tick. TV Review: From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series “La Conquista” By: Brandon Wolfe “ La Conquista ” is a very talky episode, which is a dangerous thing for a show so poor at dialogue to attempt. It is about building bonds and attempting to understand one’s enemy, which sounds well and good, but I don’t think the show has the character development necessary to pull off something quieter and chattier like this. Though I suppose it earns a few points for even trying. A wounded Richie is wooed by Santanico into embracing vampirism and being at her side for eternity, supplanting the role Carlos has long played in her afterlife. She also relates to Richie her origin, which is that she was sacrificed many years ago as part of a snake cult and made into a vampire (which we had already learned in the pilot episode, but I guess it needed to be hammered home). For reasons not made clear, she psychically became fixated on Richie and drew him to her. This thread of the story is the most tedious thi

Butler was to have played the Zen-infused thief originally played by Patrick Swayze , opposite Luke Bracey , who is playing hotshot FBI agent Johnny Utah, originally played by Keanu Reeves . Sources say that the parting of ways occurred because of a confluence of factors. There have been creative differences and a scheduling conflict: Point Break will start shooting in late June, lasting several months, and will take its actors to international locales. But Butler also has on his docket London Has Fallen , the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen , which shoots in the fall in London. Insiders say Alcon is intent on maintaining its start date and will recast the part in the coming weeks. Ericson Core is directing the movie, which has a script by Kurt Wimmer. Last year’s neon-hued, madness-inducing criminal trip Spring Breakers seemed one of the least likely to generate a sequel. And yet that’s exactly what will happen, as backers Wild Bunch have announced that Spring Breakers: The Second Coming is in development. “It’s not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original,” Wild Bunch co-chief Maraval tells Screen International, adding that there will be a blend of cast members from the first film with new actors. The plot finds a group of spring breakers taking on extreme militant Christians who attempt to convert them. Original writer-director Harmony Korine isn’t involved in the sequel, and we’re not sure whether he’s given it his blessing. Spun’s Jonas Akerlund will handle directorial chores, with Irvine Welsh on script duty. The rights to the new movie will be sold at Cannes this year. TV Review: 24: Live Another Day – “11:00 AM-12:00 PM”/“12:00 PM-1:00 PM” By: Brandon Wolfe It has been four years since the clock finally ran out on Jack Bauer, and at the time it felt like not a moment too soon. Actually, it felt like a moment arriving years too late. ‘24’ was one of the defining shows of the ‘00s, it rewrote many of the rules of television and it had stretches where it occasionally brushed up against something like brilliance, but it ran out of gas long before it left our screens. Collapsing into a slog of poor writing, repetitive use of the same handful of tropes, frequent deployment of troubling politics and just an overall sense that its premise could not withstand being trotted out over myriad seasons, the latter years of ‘24’ became something of a chore to get through.
