BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

#GeekFuel Review: April 2016

April's Geek Fuel is an appealing mish-mash of geeky goodness.

Review by Matt Cummings

March's Geek Fuel box provided us a bit of relief from the stink of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, mostly completing its mission of delivering high-quality goods to our doorstep. Mostly. And while April's haul is filled with a mish-mash of geeky goodness, it's a mish-mash all the same.

Before diving in, let's review the details:
  • The cost for a Month to Month is $17.90, $16.90/month for a 3-month subscription, $15.90/month for a 6-month tour and just $13.90/month for a one-year subscription.
  • Shipping $6.00 to the US, Canada, and at least a few other countries.

  • We use QUALITY and TIMING to base our reviews, so let's see how this box stands up. As always, we'll end our review with some additional thoughts after the unboxing:

    Winners
We love the Rockem/Sockem t-shirt. A lot. But it's way big on us...way big. As a result, it's probably going to survive as a sleep shirt, unless we can shrink it. But the concept is awesome: we love the mix of Real Steel and Marvel concepts (Fogwell's Gym), and o course the now-instantly classic throwdown between Captain America and Iron Man. We really like the Bobble Head (even though it's not exclusive) and the plethora of Doctor Who swag (including the variant cover) is also appreciated. Still, I'm not sure I'll be keeping any of it, either due to the sizing and lack of exclusivity. I also owe some ladies out there some favors (if you know what I mean), so maybe a little Geek Fuel Hookup can pay for some of my debts.

    Losers
Honestly, there isn't much to complain about here. We got a good mix of gear, and even the Fallen A2P Protocol game looks interesting. I guess the one issue I might have is theme: what exactly is this month's theme? Heroes? Villains? Space? Not sure, as the mish-mash feels...well...a little mish-mashy. I also feel that some of this could be purchased at your local Hot Topic/Spencer's (particularly the Bobble Head). But, I can't complain at the quality overall haul, especially with that sweet Doctor Who variant. I don't have a problem if GF raids HT or Spencer's, but I do worry if they hunted only the clearance racks. I don't feel they've done that here.

We also noticed that this month's box contained a smaller amount of items, established by March's similar numbers. I do like the fewer/better model much more, especially if I can get some great items inside. This month mostly achieved that.

    Back on Track?
April's Geek Fuel delivers a satisfying haul, complete with another great (but WAY too big) t=shirt, a great variant Doctor Who comic, and a solid (but unimpressively non-exclusive) Star Wars Bobblehead. With two good boxes in a row, I'm hopeful that Geek Fuel is back on track. It's hard to compare such a lot to what Star Wars, Marvel, and DC are doing, particularly when you're getting such a variety of objects. But that's been GF's promise from Day One, and they really deliver it here. Call this one a success or a return to one, but let's see how consistent they remain through the Summer.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

    Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...
