BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Wants King Kamehameha Film

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Wants King Kamehameha Film

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is hoping to get his new Hawaiian Braveheart movie started this year.

The 38-year-old has been planning the new movie about King Kamehameha for the past seven years, in what he describes as the Hawaiian version of the classic flick Braveheart.

'I'm considering calling Mel Gibson to look at the material. It's a very special story to me. King Kamehameha is special to Hawaii like William Wallace is to Scotland.'
He added:
'One of my favorite historical figures is William Wallace. I loved Mel Gibson's Braveheart and I think King Kamehameha has a lot of similar characteristics to Wallace.

'He united all the islands of Hawaii and, against all the odds, saw the bigger picture that the islands would become stronger if they became one.

'They had the same vision and fortitude to step forward and draw their own blood in the interests of their country and their people.

'King Kamehameha was one of my heroes growing up, and when I learned about William Wallace, I was drawn to him.'

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
