Netflix Cancels "Iron Fist"

By: Christopher Linkous
In the years since Daredevil debuted on Netflix, the streaming service has been growing and building its roster of street-level New York heroes – adding Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and the immortal Iron Fist, aka Danny Rand. But that expansion isn't continuing unabated, with news that Iron Fist won't be back for another set of episodes. In a statement released to Deadline, a joint statement from Netflix and Marvel confirmed that Iron Fist won’t get a Season 3, despite a warmer reception to the recently-released second season.

“Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and show runners,” the statement reads. “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

Finn Jones made his debut as Danny Rand in the first season of Iron Fist, which hit Netflix in March 2017. He went on to continue the role in team-up series The Defenders in August of that year, and popped up in the second season of Luke Cage. While reviews of Iron Fist Season 1 were unfavourable, the ten-episode second season released just over a month ago at the start of September fared slightly better with fans and critics.

Netflix’s Marvel series are set to continue with the arrival of Daredevil Season 3 on October 19, while Jessica Jones and The Punisher have new episodes upcoming.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
