License To Drive Remake On It's Way

There are often calls, whenever a remake is announced, for studios (if they must remake at all) to focus on films that aren't considered classics. 1988's Corey Haim/Corey Feldman comedy License To Drive, for all its nostalgia appeal, falls into that category. And now original producer John Davis is cooking up a new version – with a twist.

In keeping with some recent takes on movies (such as the Anna Faris-focused Overboard), the new License will feature female leads. Writers Alish Brophy and Scott Miles are aboard to develop the new concept, which will be a spin on the original.

The '80s License saw Haim as 16-year-old Les Anderson, desperate to get out on the road, but fails his driving test. Undeterred, he decides to take out girlfriend Mercedes Lane (Heather Graham) in his grandfather's prized 1972 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, and the comic complications spin out from there.

This is just the latest remake on Davis' list: he's also shepherding yet another take on Invasion Of The Body Snatchers alongside other fare such as the Dwayne Johnson-starring Jungle Cruise.

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device.
