BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Rebecca Ferguson Returning For Another Mission

With Christopher McQuarrie once more writing and directing a Mission: Impossible outing to follow his barnstorming Rogue Nation, it appears that at least one of the cast will be back to join Tom Cruise, and it’s one that a lot of people will be happy to see return: Rebecca Ferguson.

The news is not quite official or confirmed by Paramount or McQuarrie as we write this, but Showbiz 411 is reporting that Ferguson is locked in for another round playing the mysterious and kick-ass Ilsa Faust. This will mark the first time a Mission leading lady has returned properly, not counting Michelle Monaghan’s tiny cameo at the end of Ghost Protocol.

We’d expect to see the likes of at least Simon Pegg’s Benji Dunn and Ving Rhames’ Luther Stickell back, plus possibly Jeremy Renner’s Brandt (though he didn’t exactly get a lot to do last time) and maybe even Alec Baldwin, given the events of Rogue Nation. What will Isla be up to, given that she’s not officially a member of the M:I team and was working against Cruise’s Ethan Hunt for some of the previous film? That, we suspect will have to wait until the first synopsis emerges. McQuarrie is at work on the script now and Paramount wants the new film ready for summer 2017.

Ferguson will be seen alongside Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Stephen Frears’ Florence Foster Jenkins and is currently filming thriller novel adaptation The Girl On The Train.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
