Studio Movie Grill (SMG), the original first-run, in theater dining concept that has revolutionized the theater-going experience in cities all over the country, makes its West Coast debut today in Rocklin, CA. SMG Rocklin, located in the Rocklin Commons shopping center at 5140 Commons Drive, will also mark the first state-of-the-art movie and dining experience facility in California.

SMG Rocklin opens just in time for movie fans to catch first-run release of highly anticipated titles, such as Annie, Night at the Museum, The Hobbit: Battle of Fire, Unbroken and Into the Woods- and with prices approximately 10% less than other local venues. The perfect location for everyday movie going, SMG is sure to become a Rocklin staple.

Special Needs Screenings

Studio Movie Grill exists to open hearts and minds one story at a time and differentiates itself by proudly supporting local initiatives through community outreach and offering programs that make an impact. One example is SMG's Special Needs Screenings for families raising children with special needs. Established over seven years ago, these screenings offer first-run family movies free to children with special needs and their siblings.

SMG Rocklin presents their Special Needs Screenings series in association with Rocklin Unified School District. The screenings are free to children with special needs and their siblings, and all others pay the before –noon matinee ticket price. The series begins with Annie on Saturday, December 27th at 11:00a.m.

 SMG With a Twist – Alternate Screening Series

SMG with A Twist provides affordable alternate, educational and family programming including documentaries, cartoons, concert films, sports, and special advanced promotional screenings plus themed monthly film series. This unique and distinct programming supports local community initiatives, artistic creation and public awareness in SMG neighborhoods.

Family Rewind gives us the opportunity to share all-time favorite movies with our children beginning January 21st at 7:00pm.with Goonies also only $3 – start a new family tradition!

Girls Night Out – Favorite chick flicks every second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm with all tickets only $3 each! The series begins on Wednesday, January 14th with the epic Titanic. Add a cosmo for a perfect addition to a night out with the girls.

New SMG Superheroes Series launches first Wednesday of the month with The Avengers on January 7 @ 7:30pm.

SMG Toons! – The entire family can enjoy a series of popular cartoons every Saturday and Sunday morning at 11:00am for only $3 per ticket.

The Cans Films Festival Food Drive

In mid-January we will host a community-wide canned food drive, scheduled for January 16-19th. Movie-goers may donate three or more canned goods or non-perishable food items to receive a free ticket to any movie, good for that day! Donations will go to Placer Food Bank.

Unique In-Theater Dining and Weekly Specials

SMG boasts an evolving dining menu of over 100 items ranging from delicious appetizers including Ceviche Lettuce Wraps and Edamame, healthy choices such as Turkey Burger, California Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Coconut Chicken Tenders, side options of sweet potato fries or assorted fruit, entrée salads (Blackened Chicken, Chopped Steak Cobb, Classic Caesar), gourmet pizzas and flatbreads, including a Gluten-Free option, a kids menu (Grilled Chicken Tenders, Cheese Quesadillas), and desserts (New York Cheesecake and SMG favorites Frozen Hot Chocolate and Brownie Sundae.)

The full service lobby bar offers adults a relaxing environment to enjoy a drink before or after their movie and includes a large selection of beers, wines, and SMG Cocktails.


Food and drink specials are offered every night of the week such as $5 House Margaritas on Mondays, $5 BIG cans of beer on Thursdays and $5 SMG Cellars on Sundays.
