Are You Ready For BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH From Alamo Drafthouse

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE AND BADASS DIGEST SUM UP LIFE CYCLE WITH BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH.

The New Magazine Celebrates Movies and Pop Culture Centered on Monthly Programming Themes at the Alamo Drafthouse Theaters.

The Alamo Drafthouse and Badass Digest are proud to announce the new BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. monthly magazine, available online starting June 27th. Print copies of the magazine will be available at participating Alamo Drafthouse theaters. Check with your local Alamo for availability.

The magazine will reflect a monthly programming theme at Alamo Drafthouse theaters with the inaugural July issue centered around Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures PACIFIC RIM, opening in theaters July 12.

Devin Faraci and Meredith Borders, the team behind Badass Digest, oversee the content in BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. Working with a stable of great writers including the Alamo Drafthouse programming office, they have curated a magazine to not only appeal to Alamo theatergoers but to anybody interested in movies and pop culture. Each month's content revolves around the Alamo's national programming, which is inspired by absolute devotion to the best and the most fun movies of all time.

"Every issue of BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. is designed to deepen the movie-going experience with smart, funny articles that explore the films being shown at the Alamo Drafthouse. But there's more to it than just what plays on screen; BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. is dedicated to the idea that movies live on beyond the frame, and the magazine includes articles and essays about everything from history to drinking -- all carefully themed with what the Alamo will be playing onscreen that month," says Editor-in-Chief Devin Faraci.

"In spirit and by design, BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH was inspired by vintage underground magazines, everything from EVERGREEN REVIEW to GORE CREATURES. We're harnessing the raw power of our own fandom and sharing it with the world. The design grows out of that same ideal, but with a very clean approach. The magazine is simply a container that allows the content -- and our excitement -- to breathe," says Art Director and Graphic Designer Joe Ziemba.

"With the Alamo, we set out to build a theater that movie fans would love," says Drafthouse Founder and CEO Tim League. "With BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. the concept was similar. We were happy to support a magazine that serious movie fans wouldn't be able to put down."

A BAND CALLED DEATH Signed Poster Giveaway-

Some of the initial contributors to the magazine include VILLAGE VOICE film critic Amy Nicholson, FILM.COM's Jordan Hoffman, Alamo Drafthouse programmer Tommy Swenson and the regular staff of Badass Digest writers.

The first issue of BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH., titled "Beasts Vs. Bots," is brimming with Kaiju-related content in honor of Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM, in theaters July 12. This issue will include an interview with del Toro himself, along with articles on such topics as the real life inspiration for Godzilla, North Korea's bizarre entry in the Kaiju genre, a lost KING KONG knock-off that might have been Japan's first giant monster movie and much more.

The magazine ties in with the Drafthouse's Kaiju-centric July programming, featuring films such as THE HOST, EVANGELION 1.1, METROPOLIS, KING KONG, MOTHRA and, of course, GODZILLA. You can find showtimes for each title at www.drafthouse.com.

The first issue of BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. will be available at participating Alamo Drafthouse locations and online at drafthouse.com and scribd.com.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...
