Gemma Arterton Joins Monty Python Project “Absolutely Anything

The long-gestating Monty Python project “Absolutely Anything” is moving full steam ahead, with Gemma Arterton confirmed for the project and Benedict Cumberbatch in talks to join the comedy, TheWrap has learned.

To be directed by Terry Jones, “Absolutely Anything” will include voiceovers from Monty Python alumni, including Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and John Cleese. Robin Williams will also do a voiceover.

Filming is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2013, with Jones directing from a script he co-wrote with Gavin Scott. Ben Timlett and Bill Jones are producing.

The story revolves around a teacher who discovers he has magical powers and can make things happen with the wave of his hand. He can wipe out classrooms of badly behaving students and bring people back to life. But he experiences mishap after mishap as he tries to learn how to use these powers.

Arterton’s recent credits include “Clash of the Titans” and “Byzantium.” Cumberbatch recently signed on to play The Beatles manager Brian Epstein in “The Fifth Beatle.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Trailer

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
