BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD Review

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD Review
By: RAMA

Would RAMA go to the end of the world to see this movie?

Here we go again, with Steve Carell playing a tragic person who loses love, like a wounded puppy, he’s good at playing this type of character(Dan In Real Life, Crazy Stupid Love), I give him that. At this point, I’m not feeling too annoyed yet, but only time will tell when this run of his gets old. This is a case of opposites attract with impending doomsday as its setting, Keira Knightley play s a girl with emotional baggage and you would not figure in a million years that these two odd characters would connect, problem is.. even when the film is done, it still fails to make you believe that these two could ever connect…

As an asteroid nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD for all intents and purposes, is a dramedy. Writer/director Lorene Scafaria’s comedy is strong at first, taking shots at how human nature would react if they only had a couple of weeks of life left on earth. Some would party like there’s no tomorrow, some would find God, some would simply figure relationships don’t matter anymore, and so sleeping around in order and realizing your sickest fantasies is now acceptable, some would try to reconcile with old fling and some would just want to spend final days with estranged family.

Characters played by Patton Oswalt and Rob Corddry for example are the ones that would take selfish advantage of the situation. Who cares about others?! it’s all about making yourself happy now, that’s their mindset.

Scafaria’s humor in the film’s early parts, lies in mixing fear and panic with regular programming. It is funny when you think about it, because objects, titles, and things that we deem valuable and priceless are not so valuable and priceless anymore when you’re close to death.

But halfway through to the end, the comedy transitions into drama but sadly the drama never meets its completion, it’s never fully developed and I think it’s because it’s just too simple and too forced. It’s as if Lorene Scafaria just expects us to just quickly understand why these two leads, Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightley) need and deserve each other.

These two characters are insecure and thus unlikable, their romance is predictable, you can see it coming a mile away, in the end you don’t feel challenged whatsoever, and the whole thing seems pointless, you’re gonna wish an asteroid would hit earth in the middle of your watching this movie because that would at least be more interesting.

GRADE: 2 out of 5

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...
