BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Nicole Kidman To Star In The Railway Man

It’s all change, please for one of the major roles in drama The Railway Man as Rachel Weisz’ involvement has fallen victim to pesky scheduling issues. While she was all set to co-star alongside Colin Firth, Weisz will now have to spend her time on reshoots for both Oz: The Great And Powerful and The Bourne Legacy.

But her timing misfortune is lucky for Nicole Kidman, as she’s stepping in to take the part.

Jonathan Teplitzy is directing the film, which follows the harrowing real-life story of Eric Lomax. Taken prisoner by the Japanese forces during World War II, Lomax was tortured and forced to work on the notorious “death railway” in what was once known as Burma. War Horse’s Jeremy Irvine is on board to play the younger Lomax, with those scenes filmed on Australia’s Gold Coast.

But before that happens, Teplitzy and his crew will kick off shooting in Scotland this April to make the modern-day sections of the film, which finds Lomax (Firth) and his wife Patti (Kidman) facing up to the psychological scars of his captivity and finding some reconciliation with one of the Japanese officers.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
